The Pit Foreman manages the general pit production staff, delegates tasks to team members, and manages the overall pit performance of providing feed to the plant, removal of overburden, water management, equipment maintenance, and employee schedule. They observe all activities in the pit and maintain documentation that measures production accomplished. The Pit Foreman provides the management and technical direction for the site's safety, quality, productivity, and cost controls. The Pit Foreman reports to the Site Superintendent. Responsibilities Maintain a clean, safe, drug-free worksite. Maintain 'No Lost Time Accidents' and enforce safety policies and administer corrective actions on safety violations. Ensure proper safety equipment is available and used. Perform daily workplace exams, toolbox talk and equipment inspection sheets. Pit efficiencies- Maintain good quality/quantity of feed pile at the plant area. Keep one month of pit run, stripped and ready to excavate. Maintain pumps and water levels in Pit to maximize efficiencies in quantity and quality of plant feed. (Use float switches, floats on suction lines, float entire pump when possible) Understand/manage production quantity goals daily and what issues are causing a lack of production and make real time changes to correct any known inefficiencies.
