The employee must occasionally visit and inspect facilities that are accessible only via rugged paths of travel, ladders, and stairways. Work is performed throughout the Township and when necessary, outside the Township. Work hours include all hours of the day and night. If hired for the position, public works employees must must live and maintain their primary residence within 10 miles of the Public Works Garage as determined by a Google Map's calculation of driving distance.

Duties Include: • Surveying and layout sufficient to read, set grade, and calculate quantities for bridge and road construction. • Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling and cost control. • Supervise, coordinate, and/or schedule the activities of an entire crew. • Read plans and specifications to determine construction requirements to plan ahead. • Inspect work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met. • Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities. • Assign work to employees, based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs • Confer with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities. • Order or requisition materials or supplies. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. A minimum of five (5) years' experience in the Bridge/Civil or Heavy Highway construction industry. Demonstrated ability to work safely and promote a safe work environment. Excellent team and communication skills. Ability to problem solve and adjust to changing circumstances.
