POSITION SUMMARY
The Drywall/Framing Foreman leads and supervises field crews on our commercial steel stud framing and drywall construction sites, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role directs daily activities, coordinates with trade partners, and communicates project requirements to the team. The Drywall/Framing Foreman monitors progress, enforces safety and compliance standards, resolves field issues, and supports the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in achieving project goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervise and lead field crews on steel stud framing and drywall projects to complete assigned construction tasks
Plan, assign, and monitor daily work to ensure it aligns with project schedules and quality standards
Read and interpret construction drawings (architectural, structural, MEP, civil, etc.) and communicate requirements clearly to the crew
Generate, submit, and track RFIs based on field conditions, constructability issues, and coordination conflicts
Perform material take-offs from drawings to support field ordering, installation sequencing, and work planning
Prepare accurate daily reports, including completed work, site conditions, labor hours
Perform exterior and interior layout to ensure plans are executed correctly in the field
Utilize Procore and Bluebeam for document control, coordination, and reporting
Coordinate work with subcontractors, suppliers, and other trades to maintain workflow and avoid conflicts
Enforce adherence to safety protocols, OSHA standards, and company policies
Conduct daily safety checks and provide training or guidance to crew members as needed
Monitor productivity, quality of work, and material usage, reporting progress to the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
Assist with inspections, punch lists, and ensuring work is ready for approvals
Help resolve field issues and support problem-solving to maintain project momentum
Document daily jobsite activities, conditions, and incidents as required
Perform other duties as assigned to support field operations and project success
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Drywall/Framing Foreman works under the direction of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent. This role provides direct supervision to field crews, including carpenters and laborers, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. Responsibilities include assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, providing on-the-job guidance and training, enforcing company policies and safety regulations, and coordinating with subcontractors and other trades to support overall project success.
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience as a Drywall/Framing Foreman on commercial projects in structural and non-structural steel stud framing and drywall required
Must have experience and in-depth knowledge of steel stud framing
In-depth commercial construction knowledge specifically within both drywall systems and steel stud framing, including load-bearing and non-load-bearing assemblies
Prior experience as a lead carpenter or laborer
Experience in ground-up, TI, or large-scale commercial projects
Familiarity with regulatory construction standards
Must have a clean driving record

Plan construction work activities to support schedule and with minimal interferences from other trades, and make the most efficient and uniform use of manpower, tools and equipment throughout the job.
Coordinate with other trades working on the projects, i.e. Fire sprinklers, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
Manage and train manpower at the jobsite.
Process all time sheets in a timely manner.
Identify the approximate time required to do each task and determine the size of crew required to complete the job most efficiently.
Assign workers to jobs based on the worker's strongest capabilities.
Be sure that workers have all the materials and tools they need to work as productively as possible.
Manage crew sizes and forecast requirements for manpower.
Forward all union issues and discussions concerning work agreements to Superintendent.
Maintain dated Contractors Daily Log book documenting jobsite information i.e. delays, weather condition, size of crews, etc.
Ensure all material installation methods are being completed on schedule with high standards of quality by inspecting work in progress.
Perform continuous evaluation of installation processes to promote increases in production.
Communicate material installation with the Project Manager for possible specification or code conflicts or quality problems.
Actively review projects for Pre-Fab opportunities. Coordinate with the Superintendent to implement Pre-Fab items into the project.
Strategically plan major equipment/material order quantities and delivery time frames that coincide with production schedules and project requirements.
Assure long lead items are delivered on time to prevent disruptions in the production schedule.
Monitor that material is being ordered and arriving on the job site on schedule, and field paper work is maintained correctly.
Arrange proper storage and security for materials delivered to the job site.
Report any unresolved material problems (ordering, arrival, backorders, damages, shortage, etc.) to the Purchasing Manager, Superintendent, and/or Project Manager.
Responsible for all Company tools on foreman's projects.
Ensure that tools are in good repair, used properly and not abused.
Review job status tool inventories list and complete reconcile to assure accurate inventory.
Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager to resolve any tool or equipment problems: usage, condition, availability, etc.
Complete RFIs (Request for Information) properly and when needed and forward to Project Manager.

Discuss with Superintendent/Project Management possible specification and interpretations not yet defined by Baker Electric, including conflicts with drawings, or differing job conditions.
Interact with the inspectors regarding specification discrepancies by explaining Baker Electric interpretations. If further discussions are required, information needs to be passed to the Project Manager.
Execute the change order process.
Review contract drawings, specifications and submittals when the job is assigned.
Plan construction work activities to support schedule and with minimal interferences from other trades, and make the most efficient and uniform use of manpower, tools and equipment throughout the job.
Coordinate with other trades working on the projects, i.e. Fire sprinklers, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
Manage and train manpower at the jobsite.
Process all time sheets in a timely manner.
Identify the approximate time required to do each task and determine the size of crew required to complete the job most efficiently.
Assign workers to jobs based on the worker's strongest capabilities.
Be sure that workers have all the materials and tools they need to work as productively as possible.
Manage crew sizes and forecast requirements for manpower.
Forward all union issues and discussions concerning work agreements to Superintendent.
Maintain dated Contractors Daily Log book documenting jobsite information i.e. delays, weather condition, size of crews, etc.
Ensure all material installation methods are being completed on schedule with high standards of quality by inspecting work in progress.
Perform continuous evaluation of installation processes to promote increases in production.
Communicate material installation with the Project Manager for possible specification or code conflicts or quality problems.
Actively review projects for Pre-Fab opportunities. Coordinate with the Superintendent to implement Pre-Fab items into the project.
Strategically plan major equipment/material order quantities and delivery time frames that coincide with production schedules and project requirements.
Assure long lead items are delivered on time to prevent disruptions in the production schedule.
Monitor that material is being ordered and arriving on the job site on schedule, and field paper work is maintained correctly.
Arrange proper storage and security for materials delivered to the job site.
Report any unresolved material problems (ordering, arrival, backorders, damages, shortage, etc.) to the Purchasing Manager, Superintendent, and/or Project Manager.
Responsible for all Company tools on foreman's projects.
Ensure that tools are in good repair, used properly and not abused.
Review job status tool inventories list and complete reconcile to assure accurate inventory.
Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager to resolve any tool or equipment problems: usage, condition, availability, etc.
Complete RFIs (Request for Information) properly and when needed and forward to Project Manager.
Promote, and maintain a cooperative relationship with all company personnel, clients and other jobsite contacts.
Provide job progress report to the Superintendent as required.
Enforce company policy and procedures in regards to workmanship standards, safety and training.
Provide Safety information and training according to company policies and CAL-OSHA requirements.
Monitor field housekeeping activities for compliance with job safety requirements and standards.
Ensure proper reporting of employee job injuries.
Make sure all Construction employees comply with applicable federal, state, city, municipality and union laws and regulations. Maintain good working relations with the union.
