All the while, your dedication will continue pushing the needle forward in innovative and transformative healthcare treatment and research. **A caregiver in this position works days from 10:00AM- 6:30PM, with rotating holiday, weekend and on-call requirements.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens for examination, holding and transport/shipment. + Assist with the preparation of freshly removed surgical specimens for cytologic studies. + Enter accession cases into the laboratory information systems. + Perform high complexity laboratory testing in a compliant manner according to direction. + Assume responsibility for and take action regarding any quality control or quality assurance issues. + Maintain instruments and equipment in accordance with specifications. + Perform proficiency testing in compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations (e.g., analyze proficiency survey sample in the same manner as a patient specimen, no communication with other CLIA laboratories, complete record retention and accurate documentation and result reporting). + Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance. + Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and correct the problems or immediately notify the General Supervisor, Technical Supervisor, Clinical Consultant or Laboratory Director. + Recommend solutions and improvements. + Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications. + Maintain the Surgical Pathology and related work areas. Job Description: * Serves as the study pathologist for nonclinical studies conducted in compliance with applicable FDA and other national and international regulatory agency standards. * Performs pathology services, to include 1) development of protocol pathology methodologies, 2) interpretation of gross, microscopic and clinical pathology study data (if applicable), 3) consultation with clients and study directors on pathology findings, and 4) completion of timely and accurate protocol-driven pathology reports. * Collaborates with facility veterinarians as needed to generate diagnostic pathology data and interpretation of results in support of colony health objectives and needs. * Participates in necropsies as appropriate and may train Associates participating in necropsies. * Provides technical guidance to histologist on histological preparations. * Assists in training department personnel in gross pathology and histology procedures, with guidance based on client goals, organizational needs, and company policy. * Completes study reports and pathology assignments according to management study prioritization schedule. * Works in conjunction with the Quality and Scientific Affairs to develop and maintain study integrity and GLP compliant processes. * Represents NAMSA through seminars, client visits, and shows. Title: Pathologist/Senior Pathologist Full-time Who we are and what we do: Frontage Laboratories Inc. is an award winning, full-service, Contract Research Organization (CRO) operating over 25 state-of-the-art laboratories across the US, Canada, Europe, and China. Our core competencies include drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), safety and toxicology, bioanalytical services, chemistry and manufacturing controls for drug development, and core laboratory services for clinical trials. Position Summary We are currently looking for a Senior Pathologist/Pathologist to be located on-site at our Concord, OH toxicology facility. Pathologists at Frontage Laboratories serve as technical experts and consultants in pathology and related fields, working in a collaborative environment on projects throughout the discovery and development continuum and have a passion for science and quality. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of toxicological pathology across multiple laboratory species. Experience in regulatory toxicology/pathology and familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and drug development is desirable. Roles & Responsibilities * Attend necropsies as requested and be available for expert oversight of necropsies as needed. * Interpret and report pathology findings in exploratory and regulatory studies including correlating microscopic findings to macroscopic observations, organ weight changes, and clinical pathology data. * Maintain accurate records of all procedures according to FDA GLP regulations and applicable SOPs. * Conduct pathology peer reviews, depending on experience. * Maintain current knowledge of pathology literature, best practices, and industry directions. * Function as a key member of the pathology team interacting daily with members located in Chicago or off-site locations. * Provide pathology expertise for regulatory submissions and regulatory responses. * Support business development initiatives through client interactions and expert guidance. * Support necropsy either through supervision or training. * Demonstrate scientific leadership through participation in professional organizations, presentations, and publications. * Work closely and collaboratively with other Pathologists and Toxicology Study Directors. * Perform additional duties and tasks assigned by Management.
