Forest Lawn company history timeline
Since its founding in 1906, Forest Lawn has been an integral part of the community it serves.
The original Forest Lawn Memorial Park was in Glendale, California, and was set up in 1906 by a number of businessmen as a nonprofit organization.
Completed in 1913, our crematory performed the first ever cremation in Nebraska.
In 1917 Doctor Hubert Eaton took over the management of the parks, and it was under his directorship that they took shape; for this reason he is considered the “founder” of the Forest Lawn Memorial Parks.
On August 18, 1930, the Mill Creek Memorial Park Association obtained a state charter to form a nonprofit corporation to operate a cemetery.
The first interment took place on October 15th, 1931, but the story of the cemetery begins much earlier.
In 1935, Hanlock Krill and Company, of Cleveland, built the chapel.
The Erlanger Historical Society was founded in 1990 to collect and preserve the artifacts, papers and other memorabilia and documentation for the city of Erlanger, Kentucky.
After 83 years, the original retorts were retired from service in February 1996, to allow for the new state of the art retorts located at our service building.
Our funeral home opened July 20, 2015.
