This job reports to School Principal Essential Functions * Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives. * Administers tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. (e.g. CBMs, LAS, SELT, etc.) for the purpose of identifying student proficiency levels, enhancing students English language skills and supporting teachers in the instructional process (by assignment). * Communicates with supervising instructional staff, professional support personnel, and parents as requested for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives. * Documents student's daily activities (e.g. behavior, completed assignments, on/off times, etc.) for the purpose of completing daily logs and student's hourly activities. * Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; and/or meeting mandated requirements. * Models conversation, manners, cleanup activities, listening, and everyday interactions for the for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. * Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch, bus stops, playground, classroom, field trips, public transportation, assemblies, kitchen, elective classes, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. * Promotes good study habits for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcome. * Provides instruction to students under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of implementing IEP goals, assisting in adapting to mainstream classrooms and ensuring student's success. * Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or referring to appropriate personnel. * Responds to inquiries for the purpose of solving problems, providing information and/or referral. * Translates verbal and written communication(s) (e.g. class notes, letters, tests, lessons, etc.) for the purpose of assisting students, teachers and parents in communicating (by assignment). Other Functions * Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions. * Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
