Position Overview: The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of imaging procedures, including CT and X-Rays, at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Essential Job Functions: Provide technical assistance and supportive patient care to assist the physicians, nurses and other technical and administrative staff in meeting the needs of individual patients throughout the facility. Operate and maintain all imaging department equipment including but not limited to X-Ray, CT, CR reader, and PACS Perform all imaging exams in accordance with established policies, procedures, regulations, and laws and ensure the physician on duty is notified of the results Perform basic clinical procedures under the direction of the physician and/or nurse on duty Maintain all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as COLA and CLIA regulations Maintain an adequate supply of all reagents and consumables to perform quality testing Perform all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment Perform Quality Control as established by this laboratory Perform Proficiency Testing and/or Split Sample analysis periodically as established by this facility Retain records of all analytic activities performed for a minimum of two years Perform all Quality Assessment activities assigned to this position and document these activities for periodic review by the Laboratory Supervisor and/or the Laboratory Director Other Job Functions: Perform duties as ER Technician as needed Maintain an adequate supply of all reagents and consumables to perform quality testing Perform all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment Travel to all facility locations as required Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required Perform additional duties as assigned Basic Qualifications: High School diploma or GED, required Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiology Technology, required Associate's degree in Radiology, preferred Certified as a medical radiologic technologist as required by the state in which practicing required Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography required Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in computed tomography, preferred, with the following exceptions CT certification required (Las Vegas Market) CT certification required within 12 months of hire (Pennsylvania market) Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association, required 2+ years radiologic/imaging experience, preferred 1+ years of CT experience, preferred 1+ years of emergency room experience, preferred Proficiency with most X-ray/CT equipment, manufacturer's hardware/software and PACS Position requires fluency in English, written and oral communication

    A Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures by preparing and positioning patients, operating x-ray equipment, and ensuring radiation safety. Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a Radiology Technologist for a job in Country Club Hills, Illinois. & Requirements Specialty: Radiology Technologist Discipline: Allied Health Professional Duration: Ongoing 32 hours per week Shift: flexible Employment Type: Staff Major Responsibilities: • Requisitions: - 1) Obtain and examine requisition for every exam in order to be aware of additional information such as procedure requested, patient's condition, special notes or comments. - 2) Question patient before procedure to obtain a pertinent history and write that history on the requisition. - 3) Screen and document possible pregnancy on all female patients of child-bearing age - 4) Document history, pregnancy with time and initials • Patient/customer contact: - 1) Attempt to understand patient's needs and respond accordingly. - 2) Introduce self and explain procedure to every patient. Reassure and consistently attempt to obtain patient cooperation while reducing anxiety. • Performance of procedure and radiation safety: - 1) Select proper film and place proper markers on cassettes - 2) Use lead gonadal shield or provide protective apparel to protect unaffected parts of the body; use collimation - 3) Position x-ray equipment at proper distance and angle from patient's body in order to present a clear, well-defined view. Direct central ray on the specified area to consistently produce radiographs of good diagnostic quality. - 4) Demonstrate competence in required positioning of anatomy and ability to adapt to varying patient conditions. - 5) Review patient's condition and determine the proper exposure factor for each radiograph. • Demonstrate willingness and ability to assist others as requested. Usually assist in other areas such as medical assistants, front desk, etc. Use time to department advantage. Readily volunteer for additional work. • Demonstrate knowledge of institutional policies regarding patient care, fire, safety, infection control and QI plan. Review Department manuals and sign-off supplement. - 1) Maintain annual CPR certification to further ensure safety of patients in the Department. 2) Operate all equipment in a safe manner, according to Hospital and Department policies and procedures on safety. 3) Use Universal Precautions to protect self from bodily fluid exposure. 4) Make sure IDNS and ARRT licensure remains current. Education/Experience Required: • Graduate of approved radiology technology school Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: • General knowledge of x-ray equipment, including portables • IDNS registry eligible CPR certified Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: • Able to adjust to flexible hours - Able to lift, push, pull 50 lbs. with assistance - Ability to communicate effectively This position can recognize needs and behaviors of all age groups. Evidence of this can be shown by recognizing levels of development and modifying approach and exhibiting communication skills necessary to interpret age specific responses. • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
