We are seeking postdoctoral fellows in multiple groundbreaking projects focused on hearing restoration, encompassing gene therapy for genetic hearing loss and inner ear hair cell regeneration, from animal models to humans. Our work includes: Gene and Editing Therapy for Genetic Hearing Loss: We are working on gene and editing therapy for genetic hearing loss and advancing our findings toward clinical applications. Our gene and editing therapies have successfully restored hearing in multiple mouse models (Gao et al., Nature, 2017; Du et al., Mol Ther, 2023; Yong et al., Nat Commun, 2023; Zhu et al., Sci Transl Med, 2024; Wei et al., JCI, 2025). The projects include the development of new technologies (e.g. RNA editing, epigenetic modifications, sh RNA) for different forms of genetic hearing loss. We are conducting multiple IND-enabling studies for gene and editing therapies with the goals to initiate clinical trials in 3 years. The work is supported by the NIH SCGE program (*********************************************************************** Regeneration of Inner Ear Cells: We focus on the regeneration of diverse inner ear cell types, including hair cells, neurons, and supporting cells, in adult mouse models. Our approach leverages Myc/Notch co-activation for reprogramming (Shu et al., Nat Commun, 2019), complemented by a drug-like cocktail we have developed that successfully induces hair cell regeneration in the adult cochlea in vivo (Quan et al., PNAS, 2023). We have identified critical molecules that promote ganglion neurite outgrowth, which demonstrated therapeutic effects on speech recognition deficiencies mediated by synaptopathy. The projects aim to bring the new approaches to repair, rejuvenate and regenerate hair cells, neurons and synapses to restore hearing from animal models to humans. Our laboratory employs state-of-the-art technologies, including in vitro adult cochlea explant culture, reprogramming, sc RNAseq, inner ear organoids, genome editing, gene therapy, viral and non-viral delivery, and physiological function analysis. We are collaborating with the industry, working with CROs and interacting with the FDA to bring our work towards the clinic. We are pioneers in clinical translational applications, having conducted the first successful OTOF gene therapy trial in children born with complete hearing loss, resulting in restored hearing and speech capabilities (Lv et al., The Lancet, 2024; Wang et al., Nat Med, 2024). Our lab is part of Eaton-Peabody Laboratories, the largest hearing research center globally, renowned for its diverse research programs in hearing science. We offer a unique and exciting opportunity for candidates interested in advancing basic research to translational applications, including human studies. Job Summary We are looking for a high-energy, driven, customer-service focused Senior Grant Administrator/Consultant to join the BWH Department of Medicine team. The Department of Medicine (DOM) is the largest recipient of sponsored funding of any Harvard Medical School department and continues to break new ground in biomedical research. The department's research community consists of more than 400 research faculty and more than 400 research fellows. Currently, the Department averages $450MM per year in total research expenditures and approximately 1,800 sponsored research proposals per year. Reporting to and working closely with the Research Administrative Manager, the Senior Grant Administrator/Consultant will provide expert research administration support to the 21 divisions within the Department of Medicine (DOM). As a consultant, he/she will play a key role in the coordination of research activities including special projects, oversight of complex programs or filling short-term vacancies. The Senior Grant Administrator/Consultant will provide exceptional customer service to the division's investigators and collaborators. The individual may be the primary point of contact for Principal Investigators and Department Administrators or may work alongside other grant administrator/consultants. The consulting position is assignment-based and the individual may be engaged in multiple projects in multiple divisions simultaneously. When not engaged in research management activities within the divisions, the Grant Administrator will provide support for DOM central administration activities as detailed below. Qualifications Consultation with DOM Divisions: 1. Oversee all budgetary and administrative aspects of the grant application progress, including development of study budgets for sponsored research and associated funds in accordance with sponsor fiscal policies and procedures as well as revisions of post-award budgets as needed 2. Job Summary Aspire is a program of the Massachusetts General Hospital and Partners Healthcare Systems that serves more than 200 participants, teens, and young adults with social cognition challenges, including Asperger's Syndrome, High-Cognitive Autism, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Aspire Summer Camp serves 100 participants aged 5-13 who have the cognitive capacity for solid peer connections but who lack the understanding and skill set to form those connections. The summer program is an immersive experience in which campers are placed into well-matched groups, with participant-to-staff ratios no greater than 3:1. Participants engage in outdoor education activities, such as hiking and fishing, theme-based curriculum, such as art or recreation, and skill building lessons to support in the development of social skills, stress management strategies, and self-awareness. Qualifications The Therapeutic Floater is a seasonal position working at both our Lower Camp (ages 5-9) or Upper Camp (ages 9-13), both housed at our summer camp location: Aspire Adventure Camp at Hale Reservation in Westwood, MA. The Floater is responsible for helping to manage the therapeutic needs of participants at their designated site in collaboration with their Group Leaders and leadership staff. This includes serving as a resource in a variety of therapeutic models that foster growth in the areas of social pragmatics, stress and anxiety management, and self-awareness. The Floater will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in these skills and provide consultation and training to staff in effective strategies. Reporting to the MGH-MEE Senior Manager of Infection Control , the manager oversees site-specific infection prevention programs, ensures rigorous compliance with HLDS requirements, and helps shape institutional policy, training, and safety initiatives to safeguard patients, staff, and the academic mission. Essential Functions Infection Prevention & Program Leadership • Leads and coordinates the MGH and MEE Ambulatory Infection Control program, ensuring alignment with academic medical center standards, research demands, and teaching priorities. • Develops, implements, and evaluates the program, with special emphasis on HLDS and device reprocessing. • Conducts needs and risk assessments and to support infection control at MGH and MEE ambulatory sites, including ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs). • Implements systemwide infection prevention and HLDS goals at the site level, ensuring adherence to clinical, administrative, and regulatory requirements. HLDS Oversight • Oversees and evaluates compliance with HLDS policies, procedures, competencies, and quality monitoring across departments. • Partners with the Central Sterile Processing and Supply (CSPS) department, procedural areas, and clinical leadership to ensure safe, consistent device reprocessing practices. • Supports readiness for inspections, accreditation surveys, and regulatory reviews related to infection prevention and HLDS. • Leads performance improvement initiatives aimed at reducing reprocessing failures and improving workflow, traceability, and safety culture. He/she works under the direct supervision of the registered professional nurse, the Pod Leader, and the Operating Room Charge Nurse. The O.R. Surgical Aide is responsible for the transportation of patients to and from the Operating Room and other locations. As needed and directed, he/she assists nursing staff in the rooms with patient care which includes positioning and transfer of anesthetized patients as well as supporting limbs during a surgical skin prep. He/she is also responsible for performing a shave prep of the patient prior to surgery, according to established guidelines, and the delivery of specimens and blood products to and from the Laboratory and Radiology. Other duties include between-case cleaning, the handling of infectious waste, sharps, and maintaining order and cleanliness in the Pods and CSR2 Soiled area. The O.R. Surgical Aide is responsible for maintaining inventory levels of specified stock items in the Operating Room, and the preparation of stretchers and oxygen tanks to see that both are ready and available when needed for patient transport. Prioritization of patient care tasks at hand and communication with health care team members is an important factor in performing the duties of this role. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Understands the importance and practice of Isolation/Precautions in patient care. •Maintains inventory level of specified stock items within the Operating Room according to established guidelines. •Responsible for assisting nursing staff in the rooms as needed and directed (i.e. turning, moving anesthetized patients, holding of extremities for surgical prep, gathering of equipment, etc.). •Performs between-case cleaning in order to minimize turnaround between surgical procedures. •Checks status of stretchers to assure they are ready and available when needed for patient transport. Cleans according to established policy and procedure. •Responsible for performing the Balancing of the Total Care Bed for specific patient populations prior to patient use. •Checks status of oxygen tanks on stretchers to assure O2 is always available for patient transport. •Maintains inventory of medical gases for patient care, i.e. oxygen, laser mixture, nitrogen, compressed air. •Delivery of specimens and blood products to the Laboratory or Radiology, as directed by nursing personnel. •Cleans Operating Room equipment at end of surgical procedures, including surgical table, mayo stands, ring stands, instrument tables, kick buckets and IV poles, according to established infection control policies and procedures, i.e. Isolation/Precautions. •Runs errands as needed and directed by registered professional nurse and/or charge nurse, understanding the importance of efficiency in performing tasks. •Collaborates with other members of the surgical team to see that each Operating Room is clean and all equipment is in place. •Performs shave prep on surgical patient as directed, according to established guidelines, policy and procedure. •Determines specific waste type, i.e. hazardous vs. regular, for proper disposal of O.R. trash. •Maintains order and cleanliness in CSR2 Soiled room where linen, trash, and infectious waste are stored prior to disposal via CSR/Environmental Services. •Communicates pertinent information with regard to patient care concerns to appropriate personnel. •Responsible for application of the principles of asepsis to maintain integrity of the sterile field. •Assists and collaborates with the Circulating nurse and Surgical Technologist to set up for surgical procedures with proper instrumentation, equipment and supplies. •Assists in the care, cleaning and maintenance of all general and specialty instruments, equipment and supplies according to established guidelines, policies and procedures. •Maintains confidentiality of information related to individual patients and patient care units. Job Summary The Multidisciplinary Eating Disorders Research Collaborative (MEDRC) at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Holsen Lab Brigham and Women's Hospital is seeking a full-time post-bac clinical Research Assistant with a strong interest in neuroscience and quantitative methods, including data analysis or computer science. The individual will assist with a clinical trial focused on the impact of cognitive-behavioral therapy for avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) in adolescents on clinical, neuroimaging (fMRI/sMRI), and neuroendocrine metrics, and may have the opportunity to be involved in other clinical research studies in the MEDRC and Holsen Lab. Under the supervision of the principal investigators, the post-bac clinical research assistant will carry out a broad range of neuroimaging, biostatistics, and computer science-based research activities and procedures as indicated below.
