Boat propellers ranging from the marine inboard and industrial fixed pitch propellers, from 3” through 96” diameters.

Michigan Wheel is looking for a 1st shift melt Technician in our foundry.

The foundry is where our process starts to take shape. We take a “brick” of metal and with the appropriate process and heat we melt this down to pour in our sand mold. These then sit for an hour to a few day to cool down all depends on the item. After this the newly create propeller is then knocked out of the sand mold and cleaned off. Its next stop is our cut off team to remove any large pieces of metal before leaving the foundry to go to the machine shop.

As a melt technician we will train you in the following tasks plus many more:

· Fill furnaces with metal bars/remelt

· Take temperatures of the heated metal

· Using a hoist system, pour ladle filled with heated metal into a different sized flasks and/or molds

· Maintain proper housekeeping in and around the melt deck

· Maintain equipment

· Stay on task and hit their production goals each day

The perfect applicant has the ability to think on their feet and react quickly, basic math skills, the understating of quality and safety standards, and can tolerate extreme heat.

High school diploma or GED equivalent

*Physical Demands: *

· Stand at work station

· Operate hilo/lift truck/bobcat

· Push/pull/lift up to 75 pounds

*Work environment: *

Employees move around the plant by walking, or driving. There are times when the environment is hot or cold (depending on the season) due to overhead door being open. Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment: Safety Glasses with side shields, hearing protection and steel-toed work shoes, aluminized apron, boot protectors, sleeves (cotton/aluminized), helmet with shield, insulated gloves (leather/aluminum).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.10 per hour
