About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Line Cook to join our culinary team. In this role, you will prepare and produce high‑quality food items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service while maintaining consistent standards for taste, presentation, and efficiency.
What You Will Do
* Work all stations on the line (grill, sauté, cold line) and prepare menu items according to recipes, portion guidelines, and presentation standards.
* Complete mise en place and station setup for various meal periods.
* Safely operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment.
* Properly label, date, and rotate food items; maintain par levels and support efforts to manage food cost, reduce waste, and ensure efficient usage.
What You Bring
* At least 1 year of professional cooking experience in a high‑volume or high‑quality culinary environment.
* Ability to operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment such as fryers, broilers, stoves, ovens, mixers, food processors, slicers, steamers, flat‑top grills, and steam tables.
* Strong knife skills and a solid understanding of culinary techniques.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
* Strong time‑management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
* Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 70 lbs.

Job Description

Take corrective action, to include further training, for items that do not meet standards. Inspect cafeteria daily to ensure consistent quality of food is being served to team members. Actively cook and expedite during peak meal periods.
Train, supervise, and direct the team in the banquet department. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the team. Assign and instruct the kitchen team in details of work. Verify that all portion sizes, quality standards and proper cooking techniques are followed. Monitor progress and give consultation when needed. Conduct daily training programs to improve service and food quality. Inspect all refrigeration units, trash compactor, and food storage areas for sanitation, food quality, proper rotation and storage.

Conduct daily pre-shift meetings for the purpose of identifying special guests, groups' in house, special needs, etc. Encourage and promote an active team member empowerment atmosphere.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

What will I be doing?

Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
Prepare food items according to designated recipes and quality standards
Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation standards at all times
Manage guest orders in a friendly, timely and efficient manner
Ensure knowledge of menu and all food products
Stock and maintain designated food station(s)
Visually inspect all food sent from the kitchen
Practice correct food handling and food storage procedures according to federal, state, local and company regulations
Prepare requisitions for supplies and food items, as needed

Our Hotel

Overview of Position
We are looking for a Line Cook II for La Mar by Gaston Acurio, with a minimum of 3 years culinary experience required. Incumbent must have excellent knife skills, food knowledge, as well as knowledge of proper sanitation practices. Candidate should also possess strong grill station skills, knowledge of proteins, food temperatures, butchery, and set-up/breakdown of station. ServSafe certification is a plus.
The La Mar Line Cook is responsible for, but not limited to, assisting the other members of the team to quickly and efficiently execute the high volume of food production.
The La Mar Cook II will report directly to the La Mar Executive Chef.
Requirements
• Have a minimum of 3 years culinary experience in the similar position, preferably in a luxury setting.
• Flexible schedule is required, including some evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Excellent organizational skills and communication skills are necessary.
• Must be able to work in a high-pace and dynamic operation.
• Must be detailed oriented, excellent computer skills necessary.
• Have a pleasant, friendly and helpful manner.
• Work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.
• Able to handle multiple tasks at one time.
