Fox Den Golf Shop company history timeline

1969

On March 1, 1969, the club hired its first golf professional, Mickey Bessignano of Rumford, Rhode Island.

With the start of construction of the golf course, the old Oliver Kermit Everett farmhouse was remodeled and used as the first Clubhouse and Pro Shop on March 1, 1969.

Our first nine holes, opened for play on May 15, 1969, were seeded with windsor blue fairways and pencross greens.

1971

Our second Clubhouse (current Fitness Center) was opened to members on May 21, 1971, adjacent to the present tennis facilities.

1995

The lower level of the new Clubhouse opened for business on Friday, June 9, 1995, and full services were provided Friday, June 16, 1995.

2005

While the city wouldn’t recoup what it paid, “we’re retaining a very valuable asset, which is the right to keep it a golf course,” Rasor said. “And that’s what council was after in 2005” when it negotiated to buy the property.

2006

Rasor, who long has argued that the city’s purchase of Fox Den in 2006 was a “horrible decision,” reignited the debate in March and persuaded a divided council to explore the market.

•?Fox Den Fairways LLC: The bid was signed by partner James Stewart, who city officials say was among the owners who sold Fox Den to the city for $5.5 million in 2006.
