The Remote A2 ( Audio Assist) is the extension of the A1 and the main audio point of contact when the A1 is not at site. Your Role Accountabilities :
**MFP PRODUCTIONS**
+ Works with the show Audio Engineer (A1) to ensure proper equipment is set up and prepared to technically accomplish assigned production ( microphones, antennas, belt packs, etc.)
+ T he Remote A2 will lead the rest of the A2s at site to complete all tasks in a timely and professional manner
+ Build, save, and recall basic audio console and intercom setups

+ Collaborates with the show Audio Engineer (A1) to fax all microphones , IFBs and COMMS channels prior to show and troubleshoot any issues
+ Properly dresses the microphone and IFB for Productions as needed
+ During productions, m onitor the audio signal fl ow , battery levels and frequencies for microphone s, IFB s and COMMs channels
+ During production be ready to adjust microphones, IFBs, belt packs or any other piece of audio equipment as necessary or assigned by the Audio Engineer (A1)
+ Maintain a clean and orderly workstation before and during Productions . After the Production is complete, be responsible that all equipment is returned and in working order. If equipment is damaged, report damage to Tech Manager and assist in getting the proper repair/replacement started
Qualifications & Experiences:
+ 5 - 7 years of n etwork level broadcast production experience as an Audio Assist (A2) for live/taped s tudio and /or remote (on location) productions
+ In-depth knowledge of audio signal flow including but not limited to, network ports, audio routing and patching
+ Knowledge of current industry standards
+ In-depth k nowledge of the basic types of microphones used for remote production
+ Proficient on all microphone setups and applications, including hiding lavaliers and professional protocol when dressing microphones
+ In-depth knowledge of RF systems including but not limited to frequency spectrum and antenna placement/distribution

THE OPPORTUNITY
Vocalo is looking for a versatile and knowledgeable multimedia content producer to help curate and create the Vocalo experience on air and digitally. There's a focus on Chicago's music scene, sharing stories and helping the audience find their next favorite local artist or group.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced audio producer and editor, a lover of Chicago music and the culture around it, and ready to join a creative and ambitious team. This role will be tasked with producing a weekly show, currently in development, that will incorporate music, artist interviews and audience engagement. They will execute the day-to-day strategy for the brand and help develop new opportunities to grow our audience.
There will be responsibilities to assist the Chicago Public Media Arts + Culture Desk in coverage with a specific Vocalo lens, as well as the Audience Team to share our work on social media via vertical video and a newsletter. The ideal candidate will also assist in curating the music listening experience for the Vocalo audience via 91.1 and our digital stream.
This role will be based in Chicago and requires someone who is organized, yet flexible.
This is a grant-funded position with a guaranteed duration of two years.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
The hired individual will oversee the newsroom during the course of a daypart and will be responsible for creating rundowns, selecting sound to air during newscasts, writing and approving copy, and coordinating with the digital content team.
Writers work off an assigned lineup drawing information from resource copy, the audio file, and appropriate network sources. Since there is little opportunity for detailed review of copy before airing, writers must "get it right the first time" and be able to work effectively under pressure.
Editor: must review incoming news stories from a variety of sources and choose the stories of highest interest and most relevance to the WBBM Newsradio audience.
Assembles an hourly lineup of news for writers and anchors to prepare.
Assigns audio to newscasts.
Creatively pursues new ways of presenting stories so that they have the most impact on the audience.

Reports news stories for broadcast, describing the background and details of events
Arranges interviews with people who can provide information about stories
Reviews copy and corrects errors in content, grammar and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines
Reviews and evaluates notes taken about event aspects to isolate pertinent facts and details
Determines a story's emphasis, length and format, and organizes material accordingly
Researches and analyzes background information related to news stories to be able to provide complete and accurate information
Gathers information about events through research, interviews, experience or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functions
Pitches stories to news managers and newsproducers which are relevant to the local community
Receives assignments and evaluates leads and tips to develop story ideas
Discusses issues with producers and/or news managers to establish priorities or positions
Checks reference materials such as books, news files or public records to obtain relevant facts
Revises work to meet editorial approval or to fit time requirements
Shoots and edits news events and news reports
Produces and presents reports for all platforms
Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality

Requirements & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Minimum two years' experience in news reporting (More or less depending on market size)
Superior on-air presence
Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Valid driver's license with a good driving record
Flexibility to work any shift
The pay range for this position is: $32,000.00-$34,000.00
