This full-time role as Mechanical/Piping Engineer II is about making a lasting impact on the future of sustainable nuclear energy. You will leverage your skills and experience to be part of an innovative team and make a difference for our customers. As a Mechanical/Piping Engineer II in Charlotte NC, you will be part of the Steam Generator Replacement Business Line in the Installed Base Americas Business Unit. Your day-to-day will radiate around a best method approach to support large component replacement through an engineered opening in a lined concrete containment structure. To support large component replacement interconnecting mechanical safety / non-safety systems as well as any interfering mechanical safety / non-safety systems are to be removed, temporarily supported, potentially rerouted, and reinstalled (reconciled) to original design basis qualifications. To achieve this project scope, you will be responsible for integrating with a team of multidiscipline engineers developing engineering changes by applying practical, logical, and fundamental engineering solutions. What You'll Do Day-To-Day * Perform standard and non-standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks resolution of field problems and resolution of quality events. * Solve a range of straightforward problems, analyze solutions and assess each using standard procedures. * Ensure compliance with government regulations, organization, industry and customer engineering standards with support of senior staff. * Independently evaluate, select and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications for tasks previously performed. What You'll Bring * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. * Dependent on the position, degrees in Physics, Engineering Technology and Engineering Science may also be accepted. * Minimum of 2 years of related experience. * Knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria. * Advanced level of specific software tools (CAD, FEA, CFD) and programming skills. Total Rewards Package Total Rewards Package * Salary: $78,000-$102,000, and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. What You'll Do Day-To-Day * Performs a variety of more complex non-standard engineering and new-to-you assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems, and resolution of quality events. * Performs independent review of department work products, risk assessments, Apparent Cause Analyses, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis etc. * Proposes solutions and work scope to Supervisor, works autonomously on most assignments and solutions. * Ensures compliance with government regulations, organization, industry and customer engineering standards. * Independently evaluates, selects and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making more complex adaptations and modifications for tasks not previously performed. * Develops new or adapted products, methods, systems or models to provide added value solutions to customers. * Understands impact of work on other organizations internally and externally. * Works on special projects, as directed. * Provides suggestions for improving processes and implementing process improvements. * Actively participates in technical communications with internal customers. What You'll Do Day-To-Day * Coordinates all engineering work (maintains overall technical solution, development of procedures, definition and acquisition of required tools, materials, etc.) and other preparations which will be required to implement the contract within budget/schedule. * Plans, organizes, implements and follows through to completion a solution to address client's need. * Defines and forecasts the necessary skills and work arrangements to support the objectives of the project (supports decisions on emergent work staffing). * May supervise/coordinate day-to-day operations of engineers, designers, engineering technicians and others who assist in completion of specific project assignments. * Represents the Company in communication with other organizations to resolve questions, plan, and coordinate work. * Proposes plans and cost improvement programs that allow the project to achieve its business objectives. Root cause analysis, innovative thinking, adaptability. * Nuclear Industry Experience. * Experience with leading multi-discipline and technical integration of engineering deliverables * Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and NRC regulatory requirements and guidance for the applications to construct and operate nuclear power plants (e.g. 0CFR50.55a, 10CFR50 Appendices A and B, NUREG-0800) * Familiarity with large component replacement at nuclear power plants. * Experience interacting with regulatory authorities.
