In 1895, the third Franklin school was built on the same site as the previous schools.
In 1913, the McKinley School District was established when a school building was erected at the corner of Fair and McLaughlin as a result of a split up of a Jackson School located on Story Road.
Apparently a mother’s club had been in existence at the Franklin School for some time, however on Friday, January 20, 1914, the first meeting of the Franklin Parents and Teachers Association was held.
A newspaper account on September 18, 1937 read that the Franklin School District had a new 57 passenger bus.
In January of 1948, the merger of the Franklin School District with the McKinley School District finally took place.
In 1954, the new Hillsdale School, which was named for a railroad station of that name was opened and was immediately overflowing.
In 1961, the old red brick Franklin School was condemned by the state as it did not pass the new code requirements for an earthquake–proof building.
