The RegisteredNurse is a member of an interdisciplinary care team. This role provides patient centric care and is primarily responsible for nursing assessment and diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
This position is 0.75 FTE, 30 hours/week.
Responsibilities
Assesses physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs and evaluates patients' adaptation to health changes
Develops a plan of care based on patients' disease, symptoms, and response to treatment
Educates patients, families, and caregivers on disease processes, treatment, side effects and symptom management
Coordinates with inter-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
Refers patients, families and caregivers as appropriate to other clinical resources/professionals such as social work, home health care, clinical nutrition, etc.
Implements, evaluates and modifies plan of care
Integrates research and evidence based knowledge into clinical practice
In addition to primary responsibilities of the RegisteredNurses (RN), the Infusion RN will have the following key responsibilities:
Nursing Care and Assessment
Demonstrate knowledge of standard treatment and medication side effects
Perform nursing assessment, review relevant lab results, assess pain and other symptoms
Administer IV hydration, electrolyte replacement, chemotherapy/biotherapy, and blood products
Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs
Demonstrate an awareness of the potentially hazardous nature of many of the agents administered and uses correct precautions when handling them
Follow all procedures regarding safe disposal of any materials used in the administration of chemotherapy or other hazardous agents and blood products
Patient and Family Education
Provide patient and family education in coordination with treatment and care plan
Conduct learning needs assessment for patient and caregiver(s)
Ensure patients have clinic contact information and understand when to call if symptoms arise or persist post-infusion therapy
Communication and Teamwork
Communicate or escalate patient symptoms and concerns to provider as needed
Collaborate with the care team to provide effective and efficient patient care
Request consultation from social work, dietician, spiritual care, and or any other supportive care teams when patient's situation indicates
Professional Development and Clinic Engagement
Participation in continuing education, departmental projects, committee work, and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Required:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
Must have current Washington State RegisteredNurse (RN) license or current NLC multistate license (MSL); and must upgrade to an MSL primary state of residence, WA, within 60 days of hire. This requirement may be waived under specific circumstances, subject to approval.
Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years
ONS Chemotherapy Provider Card (required within 3 months of hire)
Additional certification may be required dependent upon department.
Critical thinking; the ability to practice the cognitive skills of analyzing, applying standards, discriminating, information seeking, logical reasoning, predicting, and transforming knowledge
Ability to develop clinical judgment.
Time Management skills; the ability to organize and manage time and tasks independently

Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Two years of nursing experience preferred.
Certification in oncology or specialty practice area
2 years of RN Oncology experiencein an ambulatory infusion setting
The hourly pay range for this position is from $47.64 to $88.19 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. RegisteredNurses are paid on a step-scale basis and are also eligible for shift differentials and other pay premiums such as advanced degree, preceptor and certification. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.This position is 0.75 FTE, 30 hours/week. This position is not eligible for H1-B sponsorship at this time. The Clinical Operations Research Services (CORS) Hematology Oncology Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) will support clinical research patients treated at Fred Hutch in South Lake Union & the University of Washington Medical Center - Montlake.
Responsibilities
Maintains equilibrium between care of the research participant, protocol requirements and compliance.
Utilizes clinical research nursing expertise and judgement to advocate for others as needed
Provides nursing and clinical operations expertise to the research team
Partners with clinic nursing and study team to provide research specific patient and family education and documents appropriately
Partners with clinic nurses to bridge patient from protocol requirements to clinical care
Assists Investigators and study teams in pre-screening patients and confirming eligibility
Supports investigators and study teams in adverse event assessments and documents appropriately for protocol required data entry
Understands CTCAE grading criteria to assist with proper documentation
Communicates and coordinates effectively with clinic nurse for symptom management, or clinical follow-up, providing the clinic nurse with all applicable protocol specific information needed for patient care
Assists PI/Study team in Serious Adverse Event Reporting
Documents in EHR and includes research protocol details needed for data entry and compliance
Supports investigators and study teams in reviewing and documenting concomitant medications
Reconciles protocol required medication diaries
Supports research coordinators in protocol required clinic visits when research nursing support is needed
Supports PI in ensuring patient safety and protocol compliance
Communicates investigational medication holds/modifications to patients as delegated by PI and within scope
Facilitates communication and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams as needed
Provides research education to clinical staff as appropriate
Informs investigators and study staff of institutional policies and procedures that support protocol compliance, patient safety and clinical operation's efficiencies.
Identifies problems or obstacles in the systems and procedures related to research operations, and communicates to the CORS Nurse Manager and study investigators as appropriate
Participates in study required monitoring visits specific to the CRN job description when appropriate
Attends Beacon orders validation meetings as appropriate
Qualifications
Required:
Baccalaureate degree required
Must have current Washington State RegisteredNurse (RN) license or current NLC multistate license (MSL); and must upgrade to an MSL with primary state of residence, WA, within 60 days of hire.
This requirement may be waived under specific circumstances, subject to approval.
Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years
Minimum 3 years of recent oncology experience
Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team
Demonstrated skills in critical thinking and problem solving
Demonstrated process improvement mindset
Ability to successfully work to deadlines and targets
Experience in the care of oncology patients
Experience with clinical research preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
Baccalaureate in nursing preferred

The annual base salary range for this position is from $104,458.00 to $165,089.00 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
