The Coding Specialist complies with the Official Coding Guidelines in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding conventions to assign for diagnoses and procedure codes for Fred Hutch's outpatient facility services. Clinical judgment and high level analytical skills are utilized to code and abstract the legal medical record to support appropriate reimbursement, physician documentation improvement, clinical effectiveness, outcome studies, and research to meet regulatory accreditation requirements for state and federal reporting and other external reporting purposes. This position offers a combination of remote and on-site coding. This position is a fully remote position. Responsibilities Understand and apply correct coding, regulatory and compliance guidelines, APCs, ICD10, CPT, E&M, procedure codes and modifiers, and applies documentation guidelines. Maintains 95% coding accuracy while meeting department's productivity standards. Participate in staff discussions and provides valuable input to the team Qualifications Required: High School Degree, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. RHIT, CCS, CPC, COC and/or CCS-P A minimum of 2 years experience in outpatient facility abstracting coding (ICD9,ICD10, HCPCS and CPT) and facility coding modifiers. The Registered Nurse is a member of an interdisciplinary care team. This role provides patient centric care and is primarily responsible for nursing assessment and diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Disaster Management division works with government agencies and communities to design and implement policies and programs to promote increased resilience to disasters and long-term housing, economic and infrastructure recovery after disaster strikes. You will be immediately responsible for project management or grant management/support services associated with Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) infrastructure programs within the State of North Carolina. This is a hybrid position (primarily remote with temporary need to work onsite for specified weeks of time critical to program performance), and therefore preference is given to residents living in or near the following location(s): Asheville or Raleigh-Durham. Compensation: Although the range below is broader, this position will offer a salary in the mid-to-upper 90s, as determined by the hiring team. Key Responsibilities: Provide project management, operational, and grant management support for state and local governments through the grant and project implementation life cycle including application, scoring, site visits, and award period. The Program Operations Director role will provide research administration support to one or more Principal Investigators in the areas of strategy, financial management, personnel, grants and contracts, regulatory and administrative functions.
