A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Hsieh Lab at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The core focus of the Hsieh Lab is to interrogate the mechanisms by which post-transcriptional gene regulation governs cancer cell behavior at a molecular, cellular, and organismal level (Hsieh et al. Nature 2012, Schuster and Hsieh Trends in Cancer 2019, Liu et al. Science Translational Medicine 2019, Lim et al. Nature Comms 2021, Jana et al. Cancer cell 2023). The laboratory places a high emphasis of novel discoveries and academic development. Responsibilities For this position, the applicant will utilize murine and human genetics, whole transcriptome ribosome profiling, MSR-seq, functional genomics, RNA labeling/sequencing techniques, TMT mass spectrometry, various cellular and molecular assays, and a one-of-a-kind biorepository of primary and metastatic human prostate and bladder cancer samples to understand how the translation apparatus controls normal physiology and promotes cancer phenotypes. Fred Hutch has more than 200 postdoctoral fellows working in labs across all five research divisions. The Barry laboratory, within the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center's Translational Research Program, is looking for a talented post-doctoral fellow with extensive expertise in the realm of tumor immunology. The Barry lab focuses on understanding how the immune system responds to cancer and can be manipulated to treat cancer. Our studies utilize human immunology, murine models of cancer, state-of-the-art imaging techniques, RNA sequencing techniques, and immunological techniques to explore the role of the innate immune system in controlling immune responses to cancer. We focus our research on understanding how the innate immune system, specifically dendritic and natural killer cells, shape immune responses to cancer and patient responses to common immunotherapies (see PMID: 29942093, PMID: 33613552, and PMID: 32690952). Responsibilities The candidate will spearhead a project with the following goals: To define the molecular and cellular mechanisms regulating natural killer and dendritic cell abundance in the tumor microenvironment. To develop and undertake intravital 2-photon imaging and spatial transcriptomic studies of tumors to interrogate the innate immune response to cancer and its' role in regulating responses to immunotherapy. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in the field of immunology or tumor immunology is required. A strong publication record as well as eligibility and desire to apply for future fellowships are required. The candidate must also be experienced in essential techniques to characterize and profile immune cells and to gauge their function. A candidate with experience in live cell imaging, intravital 2-photon imaging, human immunology, and experience working in murine tumor or metastasis models is strongly desired. The Huang Group (Dr. Ying Huang) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in biostatistics to develop innovative statistical methods at the intersection of methodology and impactful biomedical applications. Responsibilities The fellow will have the opportunity to contribute to one or more of the following priority areas: Immune surrogate biomarker development, with an emphasis on modeling longitudinal immune responses and linking them to clinical outcomes; Addressing challenges of complex non-compliance in cancer screening trials; and Efficient design and analysis strategies for multi-cancer detection (MCD) trials. In addition to advancing novel methods, the fellow will have opportunities to analyze large-scale, high-impact medical studies in cancer and infectious disease prevention. We are dedicated to advancing cancer research and developing new treatments. Our lab uses CRISPR-based functional genomic screens to dissect how immune cells interact with solid tumor cells. SWOG is a national clinical trials cooperative group funded by the National Cancer Institute. The Statistical Research Associate (SRA) is a member of the statistical team of the SWOG Cancer Research Network Statistics and Data Management Center (SDMC) in the Public Health Sciences Division. The Paulovich Lab at Fred Hutch (******************************************** is an interdisciplinary team whose mission is to develop and implement tools for protein quantification to enable precision medicine via patient selection and characterization of novel therapeutic targets. The lab has a major focus on mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics (both untargeted and targeted), as well as integrating proteomic data with genomic data. Our group is highly collaborative, participating in national and international consortia in which teams of scientists, statisticians, and clinicians work together to solve clinical or biological problems to impact human health. This is a terrific opportunity within the Paulovich lab for a highly motivated and upper level full-time Research Technician to join our translational proteomics team to help drive translational projects forward towards clinical applications by performing bench-level experiments in support of proteomic, genomic, and transcriptomic analyses of clinical and preclinical biospecimens. The Research Technician I/II will be hired into the Kiem Lab to support projects investigating cell and gene therapies for HIV. Therapies to be evaluated include anti-HIV CAR T cells, broadly neutralizing antibodies, and engineered resistance to HIV infection, using in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo preclinical models. Responsibilities The Stem Cell and Gene Therapy (SCGT) program is recruiting a Research Technician I/II for a new position with a focus on bench research. Duties may include processing and analysis of primary blood and tissue samples for flow cytometry, PCR, sterile cell culture work with a focus on hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and B cells. The position involves additional responsibilities, such as gene modification of HSCs and B cells, culture/analysis of cells infected with HIV and related viruses, and data analysis. The candidate should be motivated to participate in sample processing and analysis from experiments using preclinical models. Cancer is inherently challenging to study because many of its most critical features, such as metastasis and drug resistance, arise from extremely rare, unpredictable events and cells. We need powerful, next-generation tools to better understand and ultimately treat cancer. Our group develops and applies cutting-edge molecular recorder technologies that enable cells to log aspects of their own biology directly into their DNA.
