Pros of working at Kroger

The pros of working at Kroger are that the store is nice and clean. Their sales and reduced items are excellent.

Cons of working at Kroger

The pay for an overnight stocker was barely above minimum wage. The managers yelled from the top down and my boss was racist to those not of his race.

Pros of working at Kroger

It is a fast, but labor-intensive way of making money!

Cons of working at Kroger

They don't communicate very well with each other, and they don't have any non-food(art-related) departments or any plans to be more inclusive in terms of opening up non-food markets/departments and/or states where they SHOULD expand!

Kroger benefits

At the moment, it's the $11.75 an hour pay, yet they told me I'd be making .25 cents more this July, STILL WAITING! Unless you get full-time as a courtesy clerk, you will not get the dental, medical and monetary benefits I would get outside of Grocery Store Employment!

Pros of working at Kroger

Employee discount

Cons of working at Kroger

They don’t pay employees. They’ve withheld/stolen my wages for 7+ weeks in an ongoing dispute filed internally and federally. NO ONE from KROGER has contacted or provided me with any details or evidence that they’re taking my issues seriously. They’ve remained complacent in stealing wages from a former employee & have directly ignored their own printed contractual guidelines of employment separation. They’re unwilling to resolve the issue despite a BBB & federal labor & wage complaint filed.

Weekly pay and benefits

Cons of working at Kroger

There is way too much miscommunication between management and coworkers. Management does not back you up with what your job description says and has you do other people's work. If you do not finish a task they do not help you find a way to complete it nor offer help to complete it. If something is not done to their standards they make you redo it all or you get wrote up for it.

Pros of working at Kroger

I like that I get to work with many people on a daily basis - people from other grocery departments to managers, to customers. I like this sort of diversity with whom I interact with on a daily basis.

Cons of working at Kroger

The chaos of it all. The miscommunication between the store manager, general managers, and department managers. I feel like I never know what I'm truly supposed to be doing because of such contradicting messages. Also, to top it off most of the time there still is backlash for doing your tasks. It feels like you could've done task A-D correctly but if you didn't get to task E they're upset, or if you made a small mistake they act like it's the end of the world.

Kroger benefits

My favorite perk is the employee discount. I enjoy saving money buying what I need for groceries - it helps to have that extra 10% off on Kroger brands for being an employee.

During my onboarding seminar, Kroger VP of HR sold the notion that Kroger has a "all inclusive" Corp. culture. This is far from the truth. Kroger, amoung other large corp., legally discriminates against workers. Kroger does not have an "all inclusive" work environment. I know from first hand experience.
