But, fortunately in 1898, the first authoritative record of early Masonry in Florida came to light in the form of a rare and very old copy of “Preston’s Illustration.” It had been presented to the Grand Lodge of Florida by Doctor F.F. Bond of Thorncliff, Brighouse, England.
In 1898, Deputy Grand Master Silas B. Wright was assigned the duty to further investigate the possibility of any other existing records of early Florida Masonry.
A special report by R:.W:. Wright was included in the 1899 Grand Lodge Proceedings and many of these records are now in the archives of our Grand Lodge.
His heavy handed rule soon led to the idea of forming a new Grand Lodge in Florida which is known the schism of 1909.
After her refusal in 1910, he withdrew recognition from the Most Worshipful Union Grand Court and Sallie L. King, Most Ancient Grand Matron, expelling John R. Scott, Jr.
Thomas on the left, was a Justice of the Peace for District 8 in Tallahassee, Florida until he resigned on May 31, 1915.

The former Masonic Lodge was constructed in 1926 and is of the Vernacular Commercial style.
The cornerstone for our fourth, and current Temple, was laid on June 18, 1928, by the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Florida, Cary B. Fish.
The first Masonic Lodge meeting in our new Temple was called on February 19, 1929.
He became mayor of Tallahassee from 1932-33 and served on the City Commission for many years.
