Position Summary
Freedom House is seeking a full-time Research Operations Associate with excellent organizational skills to be a strong and reliable support to the Research and Analysis division in New York City. The Research Operations Associate will be responsible for a variety of administrative, personnel, and operational duties, including managing the Research Team's hybrid office, overseeing digital subscriptions and supply needs, processing payments and reconciling business expenses, supporting research intern recruitment and professional development, and providing research assistance across the entire research portfolio as needed. Previous experience as an office manager, operations assistant, or administrative assistant would be an advantage. The ideal Research Operations Associate is a motivated self-starter who has a demonstrated interest in establishing a career in operations at a mission-driven organization. This is a full-time position based in New York City, reporting to the Director for Research Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee hybrid office efficiency by managing the Research team's co-working space in NYC, maintaining virtual communications tools, managing digital subscriptions, and fulfilling office supply needs
Prepare contracts and payment requests, liaising with project teams and accounting staff to ensure timely payments to external consultants and vendors; reconcile monthly credit card bills and business expense reports
Support project teams in recruiting and supervising Research interns, providing an engaging professional development experience and working with Freedom House's HR department and DEI Lead to strengthen the internship program as a pipeline for diverse talent in the democracy and human rights sector
Lead new employee and intern onboarding on the Research team, coordinating with relevant project teams and the HR and IT departments for a smooth and highly engaging onboarding experience
Manage logistical coordination for virtual and in-person team meetings and events, including social functions
Provide research and administrative assistance to the VP of Research and Analysis and other research teams as needed
Act as the primary point of contact for tech support to help Research staff troubleshoot computer and other IT issues
Represent Research and Analysis division in general email correspondence with external audiences

Minimum Qualifications
At least 2-3 years of experience in an office management or administration role
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and an aptitude to learn new software and systems
Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without restrictions

The Program Officer provides implementation support for all headquarters aspects of the Southern and West Africa portfolio, including backstopping project implementation and administration; providing input into/feedback on relevant tools, resources, and project deliverables; facilitating efficient and compliant financial management; supporting field staff, consultants, and partners on administrative issues; contributing to monitoring, evaluation, and learning; and identifying funding opportunities and participating in proposal development. Among other projects, the Program Officer will oversee a regional human rights initiative across Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries and a human rights program in Burkina Faso. PRINCIPAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND EXPECTATIONS:
Award implementation: Support all aspects of program implementation, including work plan development, identifying and managing consultants and sub-grantees, organizing workshops, meetings, and events, drafting and finalizing program reports, and participating in communications with donor counterparts. Manage monitoring, evaluation and learning processes, connecting field data collection and analysis with HQ systems and learning objectives. Oversee program finances including field office drawdown requests and budget tracking and forecasting to ensure compliant and efficient spending (and no over-spending). Maintain regular communications and strong working relationships with Freedom House offices based in Southern and West Africa.
Proposal development: Support proposal development processes including contributing to theory of change and logic model development, drafting elements of proposals and creating budgets.
Networking and relationship management: Develop effective professional relationships with a range of external actors, including peer organizations, donors, partners, and grantees. Represent Freedom House to external audiences at meetings and events.
Tracking regional developments: Monitor key developments related to democratic governance in the relevant regions, including political developments, elections, status of relevant legislation, and adherence to human rights norms. From time to time, contribute to Freedom House research, analysis and advocacy efforts, including drafting blogs or other analytical pieces.
Personnel management: Oversee day-to-day work of a Program Associate/Senior Program Associate in order to effectively share and execute administrative, backstopping and financial management responsibilities
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Bachelor's degree in political science, international relations, international development, or related field; Master's degree preferred
Experience:
Three to five years of related work experience; at least one year of cumulative experience overseas (in the relevant region) is preferred

Ensure that care plans accurately reflect the cares and clinical monitoring provided.
Audits completion and review of completed MDS assessments randomly on each floor monthly.

We are looking for currently enrolled graduate or undergraduate students who have a strong interest in commitment to human rights, are fluent in Spanish, want to work on behalf of asylum-seekers, and possess excellent organization and communication skills. This position is unpaid and will support the Los Angeles area and may be performed remotely. A computer and internet connection are required for this position. Interns will attain professional experience in legal analysis and engage with a diverse range of clients. For MT- Baccalaureate Degree in one of the following:
Medical Technology (MT)
Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)
Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS)
Or Bachelor's degree plus Certificate in Medical laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Medical Technology (MT), as recognized by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) is required. An HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
For MLT- Associate's degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program or U.S. military Medical Laboratory-training program.

Experience working in a medical field Required. Moderate to advanced computer skills. Possess good written and oral communications skills, the ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects. Freedom House seeks an experienced Business Development Specialist to join our Strategy, Development and Learning (SDL) team. This position is within the International Programs Division's Strategy, Development and Learning (SDL) team. Working with the Director of Business Development, the Business Development Specialist will support the strategic focus of Freedom House's programming and improve the development of proposals for public donor-funded programs. The Business Development Specialist will collaborate with regional and research teams on proposal development efforts tailored to Freedom House's mission and expertise. The Business Development Specialist will also lead coordination of teams through the full proposal cycle, including capture and prepositioning, proposal calendars, design sessions and proposal development, compliance with donor requirements, and submission. Responsibilities
Collaborate with staff across Research/Analysis, Advocacy/Communications, and International Programs teams on planning and strategy for new funding opportunities
Support SDL and Freedom House leadership to develop annual and longer term business development strategies
Track public donor strategic and programmatic priorities and monitor donor websites to identify new funding opportunities
Analyze win/loss trends and work with Director of Business Development and Senior Director for SDL on strategies for more successful funding proposals
Maintain database of new business opportunities and produce reports for Freedom House leadership
Serve as proposal manager for key opportunities
Work with the SDL team to further standardize the proposal development process
Facilitate proposal team kickoff meetings, design sessions, color team reviews, and regular business development meetings
Contribute writing to technical narratives, such as executive summary, management approach, capability statement, and other proposal sections
Develop resources to strengthen proposals and oversee knowledge management for business development
Train staff in proposal writing, logframe development, and the FH approach to activity design
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in international development, international affairs, political science, or related field
Four to six years of directly related business development experience, preferably with an international development organization
Knowledge of USAID and U.S. State Department award development processes and rules and regulations
Excellent research, writing, editing, and communication skills
Experience collaborating with diverse teams
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
Experience contributing to organizational strategy and change processes
Demonstrated computer literacy and experience with a variety of business applications and project management software, such as database management systems
