OVERVIEW
This role is responsible for engineering support to the maintenance department to help improve equipment reliability, operating efficiency, safety, and service quality to the refinery.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Improve the reliability of refinery equipment by developing and implementing improved preventive maintenance activities.
Oversee the predictive maintenance program.
Plan and direct the development, execution, and completion of maintenance projects including concept development, detailed engineering design, scheduling, procurement, and constriction.
Assist in troubleshooting problems, diagnosing and recommending repairs, developing repair scopes, create design and fabrication drawings.
Maintain and update equipment files and records. Set up and order spare parts.
Supervise the maintenance employees and contractors during the weekend maintenance shutdowns and in completing maintenance projects.
Help Maintain performance standards for the maintenance department and monitor efficiency, while maintaining reliability and safety standards. Identify issues and implement improvement plans and initiatives to achieve department and plant goals. Develop and recommend capital and engineering projects to support improvement initiatives.
Ensure that all standards and requirements for food safety and quality are maintained ad they pertain to the maintenance department.
WORK EXPERIENCES
Experience required with the following equipment: Belt conveyors, screw conveyors, bucket elevators, and cranes. Process equipment; evaporators, condensers, heat exchangers, piping pumps, motors, rotary, dryers, kilns, and vacuum pans. Experience with the development and design of process and instrument diagrams. Basic Electrical, instrumentation and process control experience.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university OR ten years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

Lead maintenance cost reduction and reliability improvement projects as required.
Perform FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) on all changes to maintenance tactics (PM's).
Manage a formal ongoing PMO (Preventative Maintenance Optimization) program.
Facilitate/lead root cause failure analysis as required, using relevant systematic RCA techniques. Identify and support the implementation of resultant corrective actions ensuring all analyses and activities are appropriately documented.
Alert the Maintenance and Operations Foremen to situations of equipment abuse and operations practices which induce failures, reduces reliability or increases the equipment maintenance cost.
Provide technical guidance to the maintenance and operations departments on equipment and reliability issues and technologies.

What you will do
Technical Assistance
* Evaluates new technologies, implements process changes and develops systems to reduce operating costs, increase production and improve quality
* Leads the technical process for operating areas to solve equipment and process-related problems
* Provides support data for all reports and performance updates
* Data analysis to reduce variability or improve performance
* Reviews production schedules and suggests modifications for reduced downtime and/or change overs where applicable
* Assists with designing solutions to eliminate equipment failures and process instabilities

Process Improvement
* Develops working knowledge of all process areas in areas including process flow, operator responsibility, major quality attributes and areas for improvement

What You'll Do:

* Strong process engineering fundamentals, including mass balance development, thermal and fluid systems, CIP design, and hygienic system layout.
* Experience developing and reviewing P&IDs, equipment specifications, layouts, and commissioning plans.
* The ability to work confidently with equipment suppliers and contractors as a technical peer.
* Willingness to travel up to 70% in support of project execution, with travel planned in advance and typically occurring in short, mid-week blocks.
