The general oversight of the laboratory's quality control, assessment, and management including IQCP, if required.
Review all quality control programs including Levy-Jennings charts, when assigned. Troubleshoots analyzers and documents on corresponding logs. Collates QC review data for director review on monthly basis, when assigned. Maintains liaison with lab manager on all issues.
The review of testing results and reports to the medical staff, assuring timely and accurate reporting of results through automated (LIS), and manual procedures. Ensures patient test results are not reported until all corrective action has been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
The editing of policy and procedure manuals, presenting with new P&P and suggested revisions to the current for review, when assigned.
The evaluation of new tests in order to provide for better patient care through advances in technology and research. Ensures testing systems provide quality laboratory services for pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing. Establishes the acceptable level of analytic performance and ensures these levels are maintained throughout the testing process.
Ensures that policies and procedures are followed when conducting pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing to verify that they maintain competency to process specimens, perform test procedures, report test results promptly and proficiently, and, whenever necessary, identify needs for continuing education to improve skills.
To resolve technical problems and ensures remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Calibrates and reviews calibrations, establishes new lot number statistics and performs bi-annual linearities as applicable, if assigned.
