Freese and Nichols is searching for a Water and Wastewater Transmissions & Utilities Engineer in Training (EI/EIT) to join our Dallas or Frisco, TX office.
Resolve problems associated with projects with focus on client needs.
Perform field inspections, detailed design work, check design computations done by others, and coordinate design and analysis criteria.
Assist Project Engineer in estimating engineering project costs. Maintain an awareness of project budgets and endeavor to complete assignments within budget.
Perform independent work on assigned tasks for studies and designs. Develop an outline for problem solution for approval by Project Engineer. Proceed with analysis of study with general guidance and final review by Project Engineer.
Assist the Project Engineer in the development and execution of the assigned projects and assume various tasks necessary to project completion.
Become acquainted with the procedures and techniques necessary to execute a sound and efficient project. On assigned projects, provide guidance and assistance to drafting personnel and help expand their capabilities in project performance.
Provide quality work within the scope of work, guidelines, manhours, and schedules defined by the Project Manager. Provide the Project Manager with information and assist in the coordination of information between groups. Provide the Project manager with information for decision-making related to the overall project.
May serve as Project manager for small, simple, and well-defined projects with limited alternatives.
Qualifications
3+ years related engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Masters degree will be considered with 2+ years of experience
Active Texas EIT certification required

What you will do:

POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Construction Contracts Administrator II at LJA Land Development, you will be responsible for the process and documentation required for administrating construction contracts for projects located within special utility districts, preparing engineering fee proposals and contracts, and providing general administrative support.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:
Bid Administration:
Prepare bid schedules.
Prepares Bid Documents as requested by Project Managers including addenda.
Prepare pre-bid agenda and attend pre-bid meetings and bid opening meetings.
Prepares Bid Tabulations in excel of all bid items and corresponding formulas for calculating total amounts with unit prices.
Check contractor references.
Prepares Recommendation of Award and Award Letters to distribute to appropriate parties.
Contract Administration:
Prepares Construction Contracts for successful bidder and transmits to all parties for execution.
Distributes instructions such as Notices to Proceed, Pre-Construction Conference Notices and Final Inspection Notices
Review change order requests from contractors, prepare change orders and circulate for execution.
Review pay applications from contractors.
Assist in the contract closeout process.
Construction Coordination:

Coordinate with land development project managers in preparation of meeting reports and letters.
Schedule final inspection of projects and prepare a punch list of deficiencies.

Attend and participate in CAG status meetings.
Additional Responsibilities
Support Construction Managers including preparation of meeting reports and updating project schedules.
Maintain calendar of district events (Pre-Bid Meetings, Bid Openings, monthly Board meetings).
Maintain tracking sheet of required documentation for all District projects.
Prepare Agenda and Engineer's Report for District Board of Directors Meetings.
Coordinate with Land Development Project Managers to prepare letters, transmittals, memos, and other business correspondence.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
High School diploma.
An Associate's Degree or Bachelor's preferred in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing, or related discipline.
