Your responsibilities as a CRNA:

Education and required credentials:
+ Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.
+ Current Appropriate State Licensure and complies with any applicable state statutory and regulatory requirements concerning CRNAs.
+ BLS and ACLS certification
+ Is currently certified or recertified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.
+ Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this institution or state.
Experience and skills:

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Assists with the maintenance and setting up of the procedure room in compliance with FMCNA/USV policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
+ Stocks procedure room and procedure trays with all needed supplies and interventional equipment prior to procedure.
+ Cleans the procedure room including the equipment and machinery post procedure.
+ May assist with preparing the patient for the surgical procedure by positioning, shaving and prepping.

What You Can Expect:
Schedule patients and staff and provide direct patient care when needed
Ensure all hemodialysis treatments in the dialysis facility follow DCI policies and procedures
Develop and implement standards of care, providing patient care in accordance with ESRD Network, regulatory agencies, DCI's Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) program and the individual clinic's requirements

+ Assists with implementation of FVC quality goals and facility specific action plans in order to achieve FVC quality standards.

**PATIENT:**
+ Obtains necessary medical history, discusses procedure and answers questions, and performs nursing assessment on the day of the procedure.
+ Provides education to patients and patient's family regarding post procedure care of vascular access.
+ Monitors patient condition before, during and after the procedure, especially patients having moderate sedation and contrast media injections for possible complications or reactions.
+ Acts as a resource for the patient to address patient concerns and questions.
+ Identifies and communicates patient related issues to facility management, as needed.
+ Completes documentation of patient information from admission to discharge in an accurate manner.
+ Confirm written orders, consents and lab work are completed and documented in accordance with facility policies. This includes appropriate preparation of lab requisitions; delivery to appropriate labs; reporting and forwarding of lab results to appropriate physician.
+ Maintains competency with all emergency operational procedures, and initiates CPR and emergency measures, as needed.

**MAINTENANCE/TECHNICAL:**
+ Operates appropriate facility equipment and technology, including but not limited to, patient monitors, defibrillators, medical recording devices, sterilizers and computers in a safe and efficient manner.
+ Inspects operation of all facility equipment and reports malfunctions, and maintenance needs to ensure the safe and effective operation of all vascular access equipment.

Education:

**PURPOSE AND SCOPE:** The registered professional nurse (CAP RN 1) position is an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program for Registered Nurses. The CAP RN 1 is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation for an assigned group of patients.
As a member of the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) health care team, the CAP RN 1 participates in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations.
**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

+ Recognizes aspects and implications of patient status that vary from normal and reports to or collaborates with appropriate health team members for input.
+ Assesses daily assigned patient care needs and collaborates with direct and ancillary patient care staff as needed.
+ Directs and provides, in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff, all aspects of the daily provision of safe and effective delivery of chronic hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients.
+ Administers medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s), and documents appropriate medical justification and effectiveness.
+ Ensures correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures are performed and reschedules missed or insufficient laboratory collections.
+ Ensures physician orders for assigned patients are entered and acknowledged in the Medical Record
+ Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
+ Delegates appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff including but not limited to LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians.
+ Monitors patient care staff for appropriate techniques and adherence to FKC policy and procedures.
+ Promotes infection control, equipment and environmental safety.
+ Assesses, collaborates and documents patient/family's basic learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family.
+ Identifies expected outcomes, documents and updates the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
+ Ensures patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options.
+ Makes referrals to Social Worker and Registered Dietitian as appropriate for individual patient education and counseling.
+ Checks availability of adequate emergency equipment and supplies as assigned.
+ Assists with medication tracking and inventory as assigned.
+ Serves as a resource for health care team, participates in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). This position is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation for an assigned group of patients. This may include delegation of appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff including but not limited to RNs, LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians. As a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health care team, this position participates in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
All duties and responsibilities are expected to be performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state and federal regulations.
· Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.
· Performs ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre - during - post hemodialysis treatment for assigned patients and documents in the patient medical record, makes adjustments or modifications to treatment plan as indicated and notifies Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor or Physician as needed.
· Assesses, collaborates, and documents patient/family's basic learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family.
· Directs and provides, in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff, all aspects of the daily provision of safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients.
· Administers medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s), and documents appropriate medical justification and effectiveness.
· Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
· Serves as a resource for health care team, participates in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned.
· Ensures correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures are performed and reschedules missed or insufficient laboratory collections.
· Identifies expected outcomes, documents and updates the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
· Ensures patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options.
· Required to complete CAP requirements to advance.
· Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

· Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN.
· Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN.
EDUCATION and LICENSURE:
· Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
· Current appropriate state licensure.
· Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.
· Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse.
· Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred).
