The Fresh Aid Fund also operates Camp Junior, a camp for young people from the Bronx in Harriman State Park. Life as a Farmer educator: The Farmer Educator plays a key role in delivering high-quality Agricultural programming and ensuring a safe, engaging camp experience for all participants. Each Farmer educator leads a specific activity area daily, reviewing preexisting lessons, developing lesson plans, and teaching six one-hour periods daily. Farmers provide active supervision, instruction, and encouragement to campers while fostering skill development, creativity, exploration, and teamwork. Farmer Educators also support daily garden maintenance, animal care, and a camp-wide composting program. This position requires living on-site at camp from June 15 to August 15, 2026. Compensation for this role is $2,800 for the summer. Shared housing and meals are provided. The role is fully in person and reports to the Farm Director. What You'll Do: Plan and implement lessons for the Farm programs. Teach six class sessions each day on topics such as basic animal care, the farm food chain, composting, and organic gardening. Participate in the compost program after daily farm classes. Perform daily chores, including morning and evening feedings, cleaning, milking, and other tasks that may require heavy lifting. Support garden upkeep, including weeding, planting, and harvesting. Handle daily compost pick-ups from dining halls and assist with the morning breakfast program. Maintain general cleanliness of all farm facilities. Ensure the health and well-being of domestic livestock and the ongoing care of the gardens. Educate campers about the compost program, encourage participation, and help manage the compost pile. Ensure camper safety in all program areas. Collaborate with fellow staff, contributing skills and ideas to enhance the farm program. Participate fully in all assigned camp activities. Prioritize camper needs and make decisions in their best interest. Handle stressful situations appropriately in a fast-paced, interactive environment. Explain and enforce camp policies, rules, and traditions. Serve as a positive role model, investing time with campers to support growth and learning. Properly use and care for camp equipment and facilities. Understand and follow all emergency procedures. Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the camp community. What We're Looking For: Must be at least 18 years old by the start of camp. Two years of college with coursework in animal science, biology, botany, or related environmental sciences preferred. A minimum of one year's experience working with children is required. Staff must be passionate about working with children. One year of teaching experience in an outdoor setting is highly preferred, with a demonstrated ability to design activities that are based on experiential/active learning theory Passionate about working with livestock and plants. Current driver's license is preferred. Interested in working and living outdoors for the summer. Emotionally mature with a willingness to work as a team player and to maintain a positive attitude. Flexible and willing to accept challenges and step outside your comfort zone. Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, talk, and hear. Youth also participate in year-round leadership, career exploration and educational programs. The Fresh Air Fund (The Fund) seeks a Director of Institutional Giving to join the Development department. Position Summary The Fund seeks an experienced Director of Institutional Giving to oversee Foundation Relations and Corporate Partnerships. This newly created position will play a pivotal role in increasing revenue to sustain and expand programming, cultivating long-term relationships and identifying new partners, and securing multi-year commitments from current and prospective funders. The Director of Institutional Giving will work closely with the CEO, Board members and colleagues across the organization to identify, cultivate and solicit institutional funders. The role oversees the Corporate Engagement Coordinator and a grant writer. The Director of Institutional Giving will work closely with program and development staff to understand programmatic priorities and develop compelling funding opportunities. This position is full-time, based in our New York City office and currently requires three days a week in the office. The Fresh Air Fund offices are open and available all week, and all employees are permitted and encouraged to come to the office to work. The Fund may modify its remote work policy generally or with respect to any position at any time. This position reports to the Chief Development and Communications Officer. Responsibilities Develop and manage a diverse pipeline of donors by qualifying, cultivating and soliciting foundation and corporate prospects. Collaborate with program staff to create compelling funding opportunities, cases for support, and proposals aligned with funder priorities and initiatives. Lead the writing, research and submission of proposals and progress reports that capture programmatic impact and ensure consistent and metrics-driven communication with funders. Guide and mentor junior Development staff members and seek opportunities to engage them in professional development. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. 5-7 years of progressive fundraising experience including demonstrated success in securing six and seven-figure gifts from institutional donors. Strong track record of building and maintaining effective relationships with funders, program officers, board members and colleagues. Experience managing teams, with the ability to motivate and develop staff. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present programs and needs in a clear and compelling manner. Excellent relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders, including funders, organizational leaders, and team members at all levels of the organization. Excellent strategic thinking, organizational, and project management skills; able to balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines. The position reports to the Development Operations Manager and will work closely with the Special Events Manager, as well as all members of the Development team. Responsibilities: Responsible for accurately entering donation and donor information into the Salesforce NPSP donor database; processes gifts that come via credit card, checks and the external caging operation. Ensure donors are acknowledged in a timely and accurate manner by producing and executing acknowledgment letters. Provide administrative support to the Development Team, including managing the Development team calendar, coordinating cross-departmental meetings, prepping materials for internal and external meetings, preparing donors invoices, managing vendor invoices for events, maintaining order in the development and events supply closets and other administrative tasks as needed by team members.; Serve as back-up to Executive Assistant for phone and other needs for Chief Executive Officer. Conduct Prospect Research using The Fund's subscribed research tools and publicly available information, create profiles of current and potential donors as well as briefing materials to support the Major Gifts program. Actively participate in planning meetings for Fresh Air Fund Benefits, as well as other events and meetings generated by Development/ Special Events and the organization as a whole, participate as a key staff member in execution of all events. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation with Finance team. Continually seek improvement in systems and processes to ensure information is being captured accurately and efficiently. Maintain and update database procedure instructions as needed. Provide excellent customer service by addressing donor concerns via phone and email. Support donor and Board events in NYC and at The Fund's camp as necessary. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events. Other support and projects as needed to assist the Development team and The Fresh Air Fund.
