VICE PRESIDENT OF LOGISTICS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE
The Vice President of Logistics and Customer Service is responsible for the development and execution of the overall logistics strategy inclusive of warehousing, transportation and fleet operations, as well as leading the Customer Service team in delivering exceptional customer service. Team leadership and development, infrastructure planning, and architecting effective supply chain business systems will all be essential areas of expertise. Short term focus will be leading the team and our suppliers in delivering world class and cost-effective service and driving collaboration across various business functions. As a critical business executive at a high growth CPG industry pioneer, this role will also ensure focus on building scalable and innovative solutions, managing external risk and driving transformational changes to enable growth while protecting profitability. This is an in-office position based in our Bethlehem, PA office, with periodic self-directed travel.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Exemplify the Freshpet safety culture by leading through example

Directly supervise and provide work direction to warehouse/cooler employees and coordinate activities to maximize productivity on assigned shifts and areas. Proactively communicate with internal areas such as production, sales, and customer service to ensure appropriate inventory/product levels are available for load-out and finished product is delivered accurately and on time. Hold self and others accountable for promoting safety rules and regulations and act in accordance with the requirements for food safety and quality.
Schedule
Position will primarily be second shift, 2:00pm-10:30pm Monday-Friday with a rotation to third shift working 10:00pm-6:30am. Third shift will require Saturday work.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Schedule, assign and monitor work, and provide clear direction to warehouse/cooler employees to meet the needs of the business. Coordinate the work efforts of employees to ensure that outgoing semi-trailers or trucks are loaded accurately and on time to meet customer order requirements
Determine needed quantities of finished product and communicate those needs to the production area. Anticipate current and future production needs through close communication with sales and production
Monitor incoming loads and invoices to identify damaged or erroneously delivered orders. Work with vendors, suppliers, and other employees to resolve discrepancies and solve problems
Ensure that procedures are followed so that finished products are loaded accurately
Notify appropriate department and/or personnel regarding shortages and late deliveries providing internal/external customer service
Work effectively with union and/or non-union employees to promote positive and productive working relationships. Understand and effectively apply work rules, union contract provisions if applicable, and employment policies
Provide for the supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action, and performance management. Work with Human Resources and plant management to resolve employee grievances. Review and edit employee electronic time records as needed. Participate in collective bargaining agreement or other contract related activities and discussions as requested. Actively communicate with employees through shift meetings and informal methods
Actively promote safe work behaviors and hold self and direct reports accountable for following safety rules and regulations. Conduct accident/injury investigations and send reports of injury to HR in a timely manner to meet reporting standards. May coordinate and/or facilitate plant safety meetings, training, and incentive programs
Document/update and ensure proper procedures are in place and being followed for production efficiency, quality of product, employee safety, and state and federal guidelines
Proactively look for ways to increase operational efficiency and contain costs. Identify and implement best practices in establishing SOP's, managing labor, and maintaining applicable certifications. Think creatively and abstractly to develop alternative possibilities to drive improvement

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Production Operator will ensure proper specification on product
Track downtime downstream of filler and other applicable downtime equipment with the area,
Perform required weight and code checks at correct intervals.
Clean machine regularly during production, maintain floor cleanliness and complete all required Master Sanitation Schedule items daily,
Pass on information to incoming shift
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
