Prepare the operating room for surgery. Keep records of use of Steam Sterilizer. Perform initial instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator. The Surgical Technician provides technical assistance to the physician during surgical and diagnostic procedures. This person prepares instruments, stocks the operating room, and monitors equipment before, during and after surgery. The Surgical Technician has an understanding of the procedure being performed, provides patient care to the surgical patients under supervision of the registered nurse and works closely with OR staff to provide comprehensive quality patient care.
