This individual will inspect all incoming tomatoes. Sort out all material other than tomatoes. Sort out all tomatoes not meeting quality standards.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Must be able to work an 8-hour shift schedule, which may include unscheduled overtime.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
-Wear personal protective equipment as specified in the Sorter Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
-Maintain clean and orderly work area.
-Inspect sorting tables and related equipment for proper operation, set up and maintenance.
-Advise Supervisor/Mechanic of any irregularities, immediately.
-Inspect incoming tomatoes and manually remove all material other than tomatoes and defective fruit such as mold, rot, worms, etc.
-The sorter must stop the table as quickly as possible after observing and foreign material situation such as broken glass, shredded non-organic material, rodent fragments, etc
-Following a table shut down, the sort table must be thoroughly inspected.
-Perform other tasks as directed by Supervisor/Mechanic.
JOB COMPLEXITY
• Housekeeping and sanitation standards for areas
• Plant safety rules, practices, and procedures.
• Raw tomato visual quality standards
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
• Work in conformance of all plant safety practices and procedures.
• Identify and remove material other than tomatoes and tomatoes that do not meet quality standards.
• Sanitation, record keeping, and housekeeping meet plant standards.
WORKING REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to do physical activity such as walking, stooping, kneeling, or reaching.
• House Keeping meets specified standards.
• Ability to focus on operation and tasks that need to be done.
• Must be able to frequently lift to 25lbs.
• Ability to prioritize, multi task, and work in a fast pace environment.
