ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: * Interacts appropriately with patients and records information while greeting, checking-in, checking-out or scheduling appointments for patients. Conducts lobby checks to ensure organization and cleanliness. * Serves as the gatekeeper for PCP and Specialists schedules including, but not limited to ensuring Top 40 patients are scheduled every 13 days. * Utilizes computer equipment and programs to add new patient information, prints out relevant forms for processing, schedule appointments, respond to emails and generate New Patient packets. POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant supports the clinical team by completing administrative tasks related to patient care. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, traveling, driving or having reliable transportation; written communication; utilizing a computer for typing and patient care; attending meetings. Performs medical assisting procedures under supervision of, or as delegated by a physician. Takes baseline vital signs and patient history. Evaluates new patient charts prepared by front desk. Answer incoming phone calls. Assist in patient call backs and calls in prescriptions under the direction of the RN/MD. Professionally greets all patients and escorts them to clinical areas. Manages EHR desktop and alerts/flags. Provides discharge instruction/education to patients. Reviews handouts with patients. Assists other members of the clinical team with all patient care activities.
