Job Description
Frontier Medicines is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Executive Director/Vice President, Medicinal Chemistry. This person will play a leading role in leveraging our chemoproteomic platform to tackle high value but difficult to drug disease targets and in further developing our chemistry capabilities. The team is focused on the discovery of new medicines to treat cancers and other serious disorders. The successful candidate will be a seasoned drug hunter with a track record of success in leading teams to discovering and advancing clinical candidates and approved drugs. To be successful, this leader will need to cultivate a strong team of medicinal chemists that excels at solving tough drug discovery challenges in novel and/or hard-to-drug chemical spaces. The position will report to the Chief Scientific Officer and will be located in South San Francisco.
The Executive Director/Vice President, Medicinal Chemistry is a key contributor to Frontier Medicines’ success and will be interacting with senior leaders, including the CEO, routinely. Requirements
What will you be doing?
Define and execute on the vision and strategy for drug discovery that results in the sustained delivery of high quality, differentiated small molecule drugs.
Build a highly effective team of medicinal chemistry leaders and scientists that can succeed against a broad portfolio of targets across a range of modalities and therapeutic areas.
Engage with project teams to ensure critical success factors have been identified and resource the teams to succeed in meeting those objectives.
Directly mentor leaders, teams and scientists in your organization to embrace and implement AI, and new technologies that accelerate the delivery of new medicines.
Drive preclinical development of lead assets to achieve project deliverables.
Manage contract research relationships to consistently deliver high quality molecules
Develop intellectual property and interact effectively with partners in tech transfer/legal to advance the company’s IP strategy.
Effectively communicate research updates and provide strategic input with colleagues, stakeholders, Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Board as needed.
Engage external parties as appropriate in business development activities.
What we are looking for:
Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry with at least 15 years of relevant post-graduate experience in pharma/biotech.
A proven track record of success in leading successful medicinal chemistry teams to advance strong drug candidates to the clinic.
Extensive experience in structure-based-design, fragment -based drug discovery, ADME PK optimization and achieving challenging target product profiles.
Delivery of impactful patents and publications in medicinal chemistry.
Project leadership experience.
Experience in overseeing and directing day-to-day scientific activities of junior staff and CRO scientists.
A commitment to excellence, including ensuring that team members maintain detailed records and superb data organization.

Job Summary: A Full-Time Mohs Histotechnician floating at our Northern California offices. The Mohs Technician provides support in lab using special Mohs cutting procedures for microscopic diagnosis. Accessioning of specimens and grossing, etc. Accurately and promptly reports results with minimal supervision. Perform routine and specialized lab tests and procedures with documentation of adequate quality control.
Schedule: Availability Monday to Friday between business hours of 7am-6pm.
Essential Functions:
Embed, sections tissue, and stain tissue.
Assist with laboratory record keeping and logs.
Clean cryostat equipment, inking station, counters, and wipe down all instruments. Defrost Cryostat and scrub auto strainer containers. Label all slides.
Discard all chemicals, sharps, and tissue samples in proper disposal container as per standards established.
Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.
File slides from previous day.
Helps maintain and organize surgical instruments in the Mohs lab as required and as per standards established to include preparing and transporting of surgery instruments to Sterile Processing department.
Prepare for and maintain Laboratory regulatory preparedness.
Prepare microscope for use, including computer with microscope program.
Set up inking station including testing stainer.
Test cryostat and prepare tissue chucks for use.
Turn on/fill/change chemicals in stainer and set up cryostat with proper supplies such as freeze spray, freeze medium, slides, and microtome blade.
Assist with ordering supplies needed in the Mohs laboratory.
Packaging and transporting all necessary equipments and supplies needed for Mohs surgery for different locations.
Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Active and valid Histotechnician License may be required based on state guidelines.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Summary: A Full-Time Grossing Technician at our Pathology Lab in San Jose. To perform the duties of the Grossing Technician per the Laboratory's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Grossing Technician will adhere to and support our culture of compliance and safety by following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with attention to detail, accuracy and professionalism at all times.
NYS pathology lab and Mohs clinic providers and staff positions are mandated W-2 employment status positions as required by applicable laws and regulations.
Schedule: Availability Monday to Friday between business hours of 7am-6pm.
Essential Functions:
Prepares tissue for specimen processing.
Accessions clinical information using Pathology reporting software.
Use automated equipment and computerized instruments.
Log data.
File tissue blocks and slides
Assisting with tests or experiments, recording results, keeping logs and sorting through materials used in laboratory processes
Assemble various types of laboratory equipment, sterilizing them when necessary.
Cleaning and organizing the lab, preparing samples and microscope slides, ensuring equipment and chemicals are readily available.
Operate microscopes, machinery, meters, filters and pumps
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Prior work experience of six months is desired in order to gain familiarity on-the-job with histology techniques.
Experience in large-scale organization or high-volume production environment preferred to gain seasoned familiarity with processing specimens in production environment.
Should be familiar with most major techniques for staining and special staining.
Analytical skills necessary for processing slides under tight deadlines and general supervision; should have ability to identify specific specimens for supervisory follow-up.
Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS (this training may be included in the 60 semester hours listed in in the education required section) OR at least 3 months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
An associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution OR have education and training equivalent to such degree that includes:
At least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, include either
24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; or
24 semester hours of science courses that include -
6 semester hours of chemistry
6 semester hours of biology and
12 semester hours of biology and chemistry in any combination

Job Summary: A Full-Time Mohs Histotechnician floating at our Northern California offices. The Mohs Technician provides support in lab using special Mohs cutting procedures for microscopic diagnosis. Accessioning of specimens and grossing, etc. Accurately and promptly reports results with minimal supervision. Perform routine and specialized lab tests and procedures with documentation of adequate quality control.
Schedule: Availability Monday to Friday between business hours of 7am-6pm.
Essential Functions:
Embed, sections tissue, and stain tissue.
Assist with laboratory record keeping and logs.
Clean cryostat equipment, inking station, counters, and wipe down all instruments. Defrost Cryostat and scrub auto strainer containers. Label all slides.
Discard all chemicals, sharps, and tissue samples in proper disposal container as per standards established.
Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.
File slides from previous day.
Helps maintain and organize surgical instruments in the Mohs lab as required and as per standards established to include preparing and transporting of surgery instruments to Sterile Processing department.
Prepare for and maintain Laboratory regulatory preparedness.
Prepare microscope for use, including computer with microscope program.
Set up inking station including testing stainer.
Test cryostat and prepare tissue chucks for use.
Turn on/fill/change chemicals in stainer and set up cryostat with proper supplies such as freeze spray, freeze medium, slides, and microtome blade.
Assist with ordering supplies needed in the Mohs laboratory.
Packaging and transporting all necessary equipments and supplies needed for Mohs surgery for different locations.
Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Active and valid Histotechnician License may be required based on state guidelines.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
