Frontier Restaurant company history timeline
Frontier Restaurant was established in 1971 by Dorothy and Larry Rainosek, who had recently moved to Albuquerque from Austin, Texas.
After requests from customers, they began to incorporate New Mexican cuisine into the menu by the end of 1971.
The Frontier's sister restaurant, Golden Pride, has been serving the Albuquerque area since 1973 and has become the best BBQ, Chicken and Ribs in town.
By 1989, the Frontier had expanded into the adjoining buildings on the block for a total of five dining rooms and 8,000 square feet (740 m) of space.
In 2002, he jumped at the opportunity to buy Lottie’s Pub, a Bucktown neighborhood institution.
In 2003, Jupiter made the move to Chicago to fill the role as Chef de Cuisine, and eventually Executive Chef, at Narcisse Champagne and Caviar Salon.
In 2010, Domitrovich purchased what is now The Pony Inn in Lakeview, and opened Frontier in Chicago’s West Town, Domitrovich’s first food-focused concept.
In 2019, Chef Jupiter was named a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef Great Lakes for his creativity and work at Frontier.
