We are looking for an
Aerodynamics Engineer, based in Torrance, CA
. The Aerodynamics Engineer is part of the commercial vehicle (CV) Aerodynamics team and linked to the Wheels and Aerodynamics (W&A) Center of Excellence (COE). This position requires a solid background in Aerodynamics and/or Mechanical engineering, either from work experience or from education. It also requires a high level of autonomy and problem-solving capability in order to define technical planning to resolve complex aerodynamic and mechanical problem statements.


Areas of Responsibility:

  • Design, test and qualify the next generation of compressor aerodynamics for integration in the Commercial Vehicle (CV) portfolio, using state-of-the-art analytical (CFD/FEA) and experimental (Test Rigs) tools, and this is based on the development plan established with the CV Aerodynamics Manager.
  • Close collaboration with the internal engineering customer teams to design robust compressor stages that will meet the performance, durability, packaging, noise and cost constraints, and be successfully integrated into customer turbocharger product.
  • Support the resolution of technical problems and performance challenges by providing aerodynamics and mechanical engineering support to other internal teams (application and/or COEs).
  • Collaborate with other team members of the W&A organization to increase innovation while deploying continuous improvement to the team tools and processes.



Qualifications / Experience / Attributes:

  • Masters degree or higher in the field of Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years experience in compressor turbocharger design and optimization (design for performance, life, cost, noise).
  • Machine learning experience (DNN, auto-optimization)
  • Experience with High fidelity CFD compressor stage simulation (Ansys, Numeca)
  • Proven Testing and analysis skills, including FEA and CFD analysis tools;
  • Proven experience in 3D design packages (CATIA, Onshape, solidworks), programming (Matlab or python), and experimental turbomachinery testing (rig concepts, data analysis and post-processing)
  • Expertise in Aerodynamics airborne noise analysis, including turbocharger noise measurement, method of assessment and experience with design for blade passage noise reduction
  • Experience in aerodynamic reverse engineering methodology
  • Strong drive to deliver, ability to multitask and to work in multi-cultural and cross-functional teams, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to grasp technical issues quickly and relate multiple observations to each other

We are seeking Scientist to be part of a team focused on genome and cellular engineering in the Genomic Medicine Unit. The successful candidate will play a key supporting role in building cellular genome editing technology as an approach for treatment of immunological, inflammatory and/or oncological diseases.
**Specifically, the remit of the candidate will be to** :

+ Lead the strategic implementation of novel RNA engineering to increase delivery and/or efficacy across cell and tissue types.

+ Lead the integration of mRNA-based gene editing technologies with lipid nano particles to support the development of next generation immune cell or tissue targeted therapies.

+ Transversally collaborate across the company to support RNA engineering and production needs.
