The QA Engineer, Drug Substance Manufacturing (DSM) is responsible for partnering in the Quality oversight of DSM project processes. This role provides oversight of validation program execution for these processes and systems to ensure applicable DSM systems and processes are operated/maintained in a validated state throughout their lifecycle, with a focus on consistent policy administration. The QA Engineer, DSM ensures QA oversight of day-to-day activities and resolution or mitigation of issues occurring during operation.
Job Description
What You'll Do
Performs an SME role within the QA team for the development of documents, processes, and procedures for the DSM program
Assesses the impact of system and process modifications and maintains oversight of change management processes to ensure Manufacturing Systems are first validated and then maintained in a validated state through startup and into commercial operation
Provides oversight and approval of system and process lifecycle documentation, including risk and impact assessments, product, process and equipment specifications, functional specifications, traceability matrices, qualification protocols, validation plans, and validation summary reports
Generates, reviews, and approves QA procedures for the validation approach and lifecycle documents for Manufacturing Systems
Generates, reviews, and approves QA documentation, procedures, and processes for operational readiness objectives and QA support of manufacturing operations in cGMP regulated facility
Ensures project and operational quality objectives are met within desired timelines
Collaborates and aligns with other FUJIFILM Biotechnologies sites to streamline processes and maximize efficiency
Participates in optimization or improvement initiatives and support regulatory agency and third‐party inspections.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
BS/BA in Life Sciences or Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of applicable GMP industry experience OR
MS in Life Sciences or Engineering and 3+ years of applicable experience OR
PhD in Life Sciences or Engineering and with 1+ years of applicable experience
3+ years of experience working in a GMP regulated environment
Experience in Validation, cGMP manufacturing operations and/or Quality oversight, in an FDA regulated facility.
Experience in Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation (CQV), Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) manufacturing operations and/or Quality oversight, in a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulated facility.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience and working knowledge of ASTM E2500, Smartsheets, TrackWise, Veeva, and/or Kneat validation software.
Experience with Greenfield or startup projects or initiatives.
Familiarity/understanding of qualification / validation of production equipment, hygienic utilities, quality systems, automation, manufacturing & IT systems, clean rooms, classified spaces, controlled temperature units (CTUs), Cleaning verification and validation, Clean in Place (CIP) / Steam in Place (SIP), and associated testing methodologies.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

Department Overview
The Debt Operations department encompasses the Underwriting, Closing, Servicing, and Asset Management teams, which collaborate closely to manage all credit and operational functions within W&D's GSE lending platform. The Servicing team is highly rated with its Fitch rating of CPS1- and manages the 10th largest CRE debt portfolio in the United States.
Supporting these core functions, the Debt Operations Compliance & Analytics team provides comprehensive risk oversight, ensures process integrity, and delivers data-driven insights across the entire Debt Operations platform. This team plays a critical role in enabling Underwriting, Closing, Servicing, and Asset Management to operate effectively and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
The Impact You Will Have
The Loan Quality Analyst supports the VP of Loan Quality in executing the Loan Quality program for Underwriting & Closing. This role is responsible for performing reviews, maintaining trackers and evidence, coordinating audits, and ensuring corrective actions are completed, documented, and effective. This role also supports the Underwriting and Closing control framework by maintaining the control inventory and executing second-line evaluation steps under the direction of the VP, helping to strengthen oversight, compliance, and data integrity.
Primary Responsibilities
* Maintain the Underwriting & Closing control framework by updating the control inventory (objectives, controls, owners, frequency, evidence) and keeping the evidence library current.
* Execute assigned evaluation steps to test design and operating effectiveness, documenting steps, evidence, and conclusions.
* Perform loan reviews, including end-to-end file testing and thematic checks against agency guides and internal standards; produce reproducible workpapers; escalate KYC/AML exceptions.
* Manage the tracker of management action plans: update status, collect closure evidence, publish weekly/monthly aging, and escalate overdue items.
* Support audits by logging requests, tracking submissions, assembling response packages, and ensuring corrective actions are validated through closure.
* Prepare reporting dashboards and concise summaries highlighting trends, repeat defects, time-to-closure, owners, and due dates.
* Maintain policy and guide-update records, including calendars, version history, implementation trackers, and supporting evidence (procedures, trainings, system updates).
* Track vendor compliance by maintaining the registry of screenings, insurance/continuity confirmations, information-security reviews, and expirations.
* Run exception reports and reconciliations for critical data elements; investigate mismatches and coordinate with business and technology teams to resolve issues.

Education and Experience

Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of space systems tests & experiments
Design, develop, and execute advanced test/experimentation programs and processes to conduct assessment of space systems
Apply optimal scientific and statistical tools such as design of experiments to increase test efficiency and produce actionable test results
Create/review test engineering documentation to include test plans, Test Information Sheets, Safety Packages, Data Analysis. Management Plans, Technical and Safety Review Board Briefs, Test Readiness Briefs, Test Cards, and Test/Analysis Reports as required
Perform analysis on pre-test predictions, including those obtained through M&S and HWIL, to design test events and profiles, define data collection requirements, and develop go/no-go criteria to meet test objectives

Comfortable with methodologies including modeling and simulation, laboratory testing, open-air testing, and live-fire testing and supporting skills such as modeling and simulation, system decomposition, design of experiments and response surface methodologies, regression testing, and validation of models and simulations
Team mentality to provide integrated engineering/analysis support for design reviews, test planning working groups, test card prep, disciplined test execution, and collaborative authorship of post flight reports
