Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.Purpose of Classification: The purpose of this classification is to conduct investigations related to violent crimes, gangs, and narcotic-related crimes assigned to the division, and serving the Sheriff and citizens of Fulton County by protecting life and property and promoting peace. Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Works as a crime suppression investigator. Uses crime data and statistics to plan, coordinate, and work collaboratively with other crime suppression team members; trains as needed to remain proficient and knowledgeable of related laws, policies, and procedures; demonstrates proficiency in the use and qualification of firearms. Prioritizes and manages work activities in order to meet objectives. Maintains the proper knowledge and resources needed to complete assigned work; and consults with other investigators to assist with complex problems/situations and provide technical expertise. Conducts investigations of felonies and misdemeanors committed within Fulton County. Questions suspects and witnesses: oversees and/or conducts surveillance and controlled purchases of illegal narcotics; writes and serves search warrants; develops plans for and conducts high-risk search warrants; seizes property; arrests and transports suspects. Performs crime scene processing. Obtains photographs, fingerprints, questions victims, suspects, witnesses, and prisoners as needed; establishes positive identifications, and acquires pertinent information which maybe used in court or to further solve cases. Assists the District Attorney in preparing for the prosecution of offenders. Prepares reports and maintains files for felony cases; maintains chain of custody of physical evidence; documents test results processed by the GBI crime lab; presents completed case files to District Attorney in a timely manner; and provides testimony during court sessions as required. Develops and maintains a variety of documentation associated with investigative operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures. Reviews, prepares and /or completes training records, legal updates, incident reports, written victim/witness suspects statements, consents to search/search warrants, evidence receipts, Miranda waivers, warrants, criminal history, citations, and etc. Works flexible hours as needed to address crime patterns when they are occurring in the County. Conduct security checks as needed to prevent crime and protect local properties and businesses; answers calls for assistance; and responds to hazards as needed when on patrol. Additional Functions: Performs other related duties as required.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: * All applicants must agree to and successfully pass a background investigation, drug screening and polygraph to be considered for employment with the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.* Must successfully pass the minimum Physical Fitness/Agility standards and testing for running, sit-ups, and push-ups administered by the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. Must conform to the following qualifications as required by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Act: Be a citizen of the United States; have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent (GED); Not have been convicted by any state or the federal government of any crime, the punishment for which could have been imprisonment in a federal or state prison or institution; nor have been convicted of sufficient misdemeanors to establish a pattern of disregard for the law, provided that, for the purposes of this paragraph, violations of traffic laws and other offenses involving the operation of a motor vehicle when the applicant has received a pardon shall not be considered; Be fingerprinted and a search made of local, state, and national fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record; Be of good moral character as determined by established standards and procedures; Have an oral interview with the hiring authority or designated representative(s) to determine applicant's appearance, background, and ability to communicate; Be found, after examination by a licensed physician of the Fulton County Health and Wellness Department, to be free from any physical, emotional, or mental conditions which might adversely affect exercising the powers or duties of a peace officer; and successfully complete a job related academy entrance examination provided for and administered by the council in conformity with state and federal law. Such examination shall be administered prior to entrance to the basic course provided for in Code Sections §35-8-9 and §35-8-11. The council may change or modify such examination and shall establish the criteria for determining satisfactory performance on such examination. Peace officers who do not perform satisfactorily on the examination shall be ineligible to retake such examination for a period of six (6) months after an unsuccessful attempt. The provisions of this paragraph establish only the minimum requirements of academy entrance examinations for peace officer candidates in this state; each law enforcement unit is encouraged to provide such additional requirements and any pre-employment examination as it deems necessary and appropriate. Examination: The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at time of employment, for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position. Oversee selection and performance of claims-related vendors, including independent adjusters, investigators, appraisers, and expert consultants. Evaluate TPA work product and processes to ensure proper claims handling and compliance with service instructions. Monitor claim reserves, plans of action, and detailed status reports. Assess TPA performance through audits, file reviews, reports, metrics, and compliance with service-level agreements. Review new claims for coverage and conflicts. Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.Purpose of Classification: The purpose of this classification is to manage the day-to-day operations and staff on multiple shifts in an assigned unit involved in the protection of life and property, deterring of criminal activity, and enforcement of all local, state and federal laws, statutes and regulations, including serving legal processes of courts, providing courtroom services and jail support, preventing criminal acts, providing traffic control and issuing traffic citations, performing preliminary investigations, and responding to emergency calls. Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff: develops and oversees employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and control; compiles and reviews timesheets; approves/processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; assists with or completes employee performance appraisals; directs work; acts as a liaison between employees and management; and trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures. Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; prioritizes and schedules work activities in order to meet objectives; ensures that subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete the assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff to assist with complex/problem situations and provide technical expertise; provides progress and activity reports to management; and assists with the revision of procedure manuals as appropriate. Enforces all local and state codes, ordinances, laws and regulations, both traffic and criminal, in order to protect life and property, to promote security, and to maintain law and order. Assists with preparation of long-range management plans and goals; prepares, reviews, and coordinates special programs and project development; prepares action plans; coordinates multi-zone assistance for unusual problems. Manages activities of assigned unit; implements and updates policies and procedures; responds to division correspondence; disseminates information regarding new laws and legislation updates Chief Deputy Sheriff on status of unit activities and critical incidents/situations. Assists in developing and administering annual budget for area of assignment; monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget; prepares bid requests, purchase orders, and other financial documentation. Reviews/corrects reports and documentation completed by assigned staff; ensures completion of all necessary reports; approves content of accident/incident reports; reviews/approves time sheets. Responds to questions, complaints and requests for information/assistance from the general public, news media, court and medical personnel, attorneys, inmates, officers, various agencies, employees, officials, supervisors, or other individuals. Documents all activity conducted in assigned position; operates a computer to research, review, enter and/or modify information in database; enters data on and retrieves intelligence information from the computer system; maintains statistical data and other data; creates and submits reports as needed. Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, regulations, codes, and criminal/civil case law; maintains an awareness of new trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; conducts meetings and in-service training as required to remain knowledgeable of departmental operations, to promote improved job performance, and to stay current with changing state/municipal policies, procedures, codes and civil/criminal laws. Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation, including various reports, budget documentation, and attendance records; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including strategic plans, quarterly and annual reports, and performance appraisals; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records. Operates or uses various equipment and supplies in order to complete work assignments: operates and maintains a motor vehicle and a variety of law enforcement equipment, and other equipment; operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions. Communicates with County officials, supervisor, other employees, inmates, attorneys, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. Additional Functions: Performs other related duties as required.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: * All applicants must agree to and successfully pass a background investigation, drug screening and polygraph to be considered for employment with the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.* Must successfully pass the minimum Physical Fitness/Agility standards and testing for running, sit-ups, and push-ups administered by the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. If requested, must submit to a psychological profile test. Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's License at the time of appointment. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Must conform to the following qualifications as required by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Act: Be a citizen of the United States; Have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent (G.E.D.); Not have been convicted by any state or the federal government of any crime, the punishment for which could have been imprisonment in a federal or state prison or institution; nor have been convicted of sufficient misdemeanors to establish a pattern of disregard for the law, provided that, for the purposes of this paragraph, violations of traffic laws and other offenses involving the operation of a motor vehicle when the applicant has received a pardon shall not be considered; Be fingerprinted and a search made of local, state, and national fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record; Be of good moral character as determined by established standards and procedures; Have an oral interview with the hiring authority or designated representative(s) to determine applicant's appearance, background, and ability to communicate; Be found, after examination by a licensed physician of the Fulton County Health and Wellness Department, to be free from any physical, emotional, or mental conditions which might adversely affect exercising the powers or duties of a peace officer; and Successfully complete a job related academy entrance examination provided for and administered by the council in conformity with state and federal law. Such examination shall be administered prior to entrance to the basic course provided for in Code Sections §35-8-9 and §35-8-11. The council may change or modify such examination and shall establish the criteria for determining satisfactory performance on such examination. Peace officers who do not perform satisfactorily on the examination shall be ineligible to retake such examination for a period of six (6) months after an unsuccessful attempt. The provisions of this paragraph establish only the minimum requirements of academy entrance examinations for peace officer candidates in this state; each law enforcement unit is encouraged to provide such additional requirements and any pre-employment examination as it deems necessary and appropriate. EXAMINATION The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at time of employment, for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position. Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages; may include ability to perform mathematical operations with fractions; may include ability to compute discount, interest, and ratios; may include ability to calculate surface areas, volumes, weights, and measures. Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or synthesis functions; to deal with several concrete and abstract variables; and to analyze major problems that require complex planning for interrelated activities that can span one or several work units.
