Job Responsibilities
Plant and maintain all of Marbles campus planted areas, including but, not limited to Sun Sprouts Garden, TreeTunes planting beds, the central courtyard pollinators and herb planters, Color Pop Corner planted spaces, Play Annex frontage, and other natural areas which feature fresh herbs, produce, colorful perennials, and annuals.
Develop and implement seasonal planting plans that will enhance the learning and play experience for Marbles guests.
Ensure that growing spaces, natural areas, and mulch beds are presentable and free of waste for guests.
Execute ongoing grounds maintenance, including planting and transplanting, weeding, sweeping, and general upkeep of all outdoor spaces.
Ensures proper hydration of lawns, trees, and plants using sprinkler systems, hoses, and watering cans.
Assist the Facilities Manager in maintaining buildings and grounds across the campus.
Utilize Marbles internal work order system to prioritize and respond to facilities tickets and provide great customer service to internal clients.
Maintain an organized supply of all garden tools and materials.
Regularly provides updates of seasonal grounds highlights to other teams.
Perform all other duties assigned by the manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Recruit, interview, hire and train the part-time groundskeeper(s).
Oversee the daily workflow of the groundskeeper(s).
Oversee performance and conduct performance evaluations for the groundskeeper(s).
Handle discipline and termination of team members in accordance with organization policy.
Train and supervise work study students and volunteers in regular outdoor maintenance and landscape renovation projects.
Ideal Experience and Skills
Associate's degree in horticulture, landscape management, or a related field preferred.
2 year of experience in landscape management preferred.
Strong garden knowledge and experience, with both produce and ornamentals.
Strong interpersonal and verbal skills to positively engage with guests, particularly with children in the museum.
Interest and ability to excite, inspire and engage children while working in a busy guest service environment.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems, collaborate with a team, and provide and receive constructive feedback.
