Furniture mover job description

We're looking for a positive and hardworking individual who can move our office equipment, furniture and supplies. We need someone who is able to lift up to 75 pounds, who can get the job done quickly and efficiently, and who is willing to work independently. This position will require a great deal of physical exertion, so the ideal candidate will have previous experience in manual labor. We are a full-service restoration company. Individuals for this job will be self-motivated, driven, and willing to learn. The fork-lift and moving truck driving experience are preferred. This is a Monday through Friday job.
Requirements:


Must be in good physical condition...we already talked about this. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that varies day-to-day. Must have own reliable means of transportation. Start and finish times vary, so this is important! We operate 26ft box trucks and trailers, so those who can drive are preferred. Must be willing and able to work with others. Must be able to communicate with customers, complete paperwork, calculate times and cost, and collect upon completion of job. Must practice proper lifting techniques. It doesn't matter how strong you are if you don't do things right. Work smarter, not harder! Must follow all verbal and written company policies and directions. Must be groomed, clean, and well behaved around customers-your mouth and self must be clean. Must be able to assemble and disassemble furniture, whether it be verbal or written directions. Basic knowledge of tools is a must. Must be eligible to work in the U.S.


Compensation: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Responsibilities

• Must be able to consistently arrive at work on-time
• Must be able to work within, and sometimes, lead a team of 3-6 people
• Ability to move and lift up to 45lbs or more with a team (sofas, tables, chairs, artwork)
• Possess good verbal and overall customer service skills especially when delivering, retrieving, and installing furniture for clients
• Ability to fill out the necessary paperwork at each client location; legible writing
• Comfortable with using mobile maps apps: Google, WAZE, etc.
• Possible additional work in the warehouse and truck loading at the end of the day
• Ability to work occasionally on out-of-state trips to NY, Miami, Mexico, and Colorado

Requirements

• Possess a Class C driver’s license
• Valid Driver's License Clean DMV Record
• Must have a minimum of 6 months of experience delivery driving with a box truck
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Strong organization skills & communication skills
• Solid knowledge of LA area, Orange County, and Valley
• Work cooperatively with others

• 2-3 years of overall work experience
• English speaking (but, bilingual in Spanish is a plus)

What you'll be doing as an Furniture Mover:

* Will be operating a Cherry Picker, moving furniture and household items in a warehouse.

* Loading & offloading.

* Working with metal and wood framing and roof truss components

* Using hand or electric tools to fabricate, cut, and install framework

* Reading and understanding blueprints and drawings

* Helping place and secure wood during the building process

* Being confident in framing, measuring, trim work, and finishing work

Available shifts:

Shift Timing - 1st Shift (Day) and Weekends

Job requirements:

* Certified Cherry Picker

* Insulate office buildings.

* Install drywall or kitchen cabinets in homes.

* Install the wooden concrete forms for cement footings or pillars.

* Erect shoring and scaffolding for buildings.
