1894

1894 - Construction completed on Boulware Springs pump house and retention basin

1949

1949 - Gainesville becomes first city in Florida and 3rd in the nation to fluoridate its water supply to promote strong and healthy teeth

1975

Plans for the Kanapaha Plant began in 1975.

1989

1989 - Agreement ends and the City acquires the gas system.

1992

In 1992, plans were underway to increase plant wastewater capacity to 14.9 million gallons per day and to expand the reclaimed water system to new areas.

1993

Because its wastewater is treated to such high standards, the first reuse site in 1993 was the nearby Kanapaha Botanical Gardens.

2003
