Northrop Grumman is seeking an Accounting Manager 2 to join our team in Irving, TX, El Segundo, CA, Falls Church, VA, Bloomington, MN, or Melbourne, FL. This position offers a hybrid schedule and requires a minimum of two days in office.
The Accounting Manager 2 provides leadership and guidance to the General Accounting shared services organization, supporting Northrop Grumman operating segments. This role manages a team of accountants, collaborating with a broader team and interacting with other General Accounting managers.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Ensure accuracy and timeliness in closing the accounting books, including month end close, consolidation, and reconciliations
Lead daily accounting operations in SAP GL and related ERP systems, including the review of journal entries
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
Establish and monitor KPIs for team performance
Develop strong relationships with business units and cross-functional teams
Communicate effectively in meetings of various sizes, influencing and negotiating as needed

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
7+ years of relevant accounting experience
1+ years of Big 4 experience in accounting or audit
3+ years of supervisory/leadership experience
Experience with SAP GL and financial reporting tools
Proven ability to drive tasks to resolution and completion
Demonstrated project management skills, including experience planning and executing multiple projects simultaneously end-to-end

In this role, you will:
Own end‑to‑end compute/infra cost accounting, ensuring accurate monthly close, accruals, allocations, and variance explanations.
Drive improvements in the quality of numbers by working cross‑functionally with internal and external stakeholders to improve the reliability of data.
Maintain a complete contract and pricing inventory (rate cards, amendments, credits, side letters) and translate terms into operational workflows.
Lead billing validation and dispute workflows with vendors, including rate testing, usage reconciliation, root‑cause analysis, and recovery tracking.
Design and strengthen controls (SOX‑ready) over compute data quality, pricebook governance, contract intake, allocation logic, and journal entry support-reducing manual touchpoints and unknown pricing/usage.
Build scalable processes and systems to support the scale‑up of the organization.
Drive process automation and ERP optimization for infra accounting and spend classification.
Collaborate with Technical Accounting to ensure the proper treatment of complex arrangements.
Work closely with cross‑functional partners to support business decisions and ensure alignment on infra‑related initiatives.
Support management reporting and dashboards to track infra spend, utilization, and trends.
Assist with internal and external auditors for compute & infrastructure costs and processes.

A day in the life:
In the position of StaffAccountant, you will assist the Senior Accountant with the monthly closing process for assigned portions of the
international division: bank reconciliations, property additions and rollforwards, A/R coding, A/P tracking, audit PBC lists,
data and g/l uploads, g/l tie outs, reconciliation rollforwards, etc. The accountant will assist the Senior Accountant with
processes and procedures to enhance the reporting process and provide support on a proactive basis. The candidate
must possess skills to comprehend domestic and international business transactions and record such events in
accordance to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
The impact you'll make:
Assists the Senior Accountant with the accounting and finance activities of portions of the international division
Collects, analyzes, and understands financial statement transactions
Proposes divisional journal entries and the related balance sheet reconciliations
Performs reconciliations to influence business decisions and provide recommendations to the Senior Accountant
on projects that affect the balance sheet and P&L.
Coordinates with the Senior Accountant the communication regarding events that impact accounting and
financials, e.g. tax changes, audits, changes in divisional reporting methodologies, requirements for forecasts and
actuals, maintains on-going relationship with the third-parties to understand the state of the business, the major
changes and the key factors that impact the business.
Provides support to the Senior Accountant for all reconciliation, audit needs, and tax filings.
Able to complete bank reconciliations
Able to complete Prepaid reconciliations
Able to complete Accrued Compensation reconciliations
Able to complete Asset Additions and Property Rollforwards
Strong understanding of Chart of Accounts
Who you are:
BS/BA required;
Two years experience in accounting or auditing
A sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Financial Accounting Standards
Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in all other Microsoft Office applications
SAP experience preferred
