What You Can Expect

As a garage door technician you are responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing residential/commercial garage doors. As a technician, you will also perform preventative maintenance and proactive repairs when needed. You will also be assisting with daily operations of the warehouse including receiving and sorting materials for installation crews.

• Loading and unloading material
• Determines parts to order for repairs in a timely manner
• Records parts, materials, labor and other cost data per job
• Maintains truck maintenance and completes truck inspection daily
• Required to drive a company vehicle and must follow all driving and safety rules and DOT requirements at all times
• Tracking and maintaining neat and organized inventory to ensure warehouse is safe and accessible and complies with OSHA guidelines

To Be Successful

• Positive "can do" attitude
• Garage door experience helpful but not necessary
• Mechanically inclined
• Must maintain a Valid Driver's License

For Your Safety

• Able to work at heights up to 20 feet
• Frequently installs, moves garage doors weighting up to 100 lbs.
• Able to consistently lift, push, kneel, crouch, reach while handling the tools necessary to install garage doors
• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and use depth perception
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

Schaefer Door Company is currently hiring for a full-time Lead Garage Door Installation Tech to install new garage doors and openers in the Washington, MO area. This lead installation position typically works 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with possible overtime, evening, and weekend hours . We pay our Lead Garage Door Installation Tech a competitive wage of $25 - $30 per hour , depending on experience.

Your Role: Performing safe and efficient preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and modifications on company truck and trailer equipment.
+ Maintains proficiency in the maintenance, diagnosis and repair of all company equipment.

+ Tests, repairs, and/or replaces electrical and lighting systems.

+ Repairs and overhauls brake systems.

+ Repairs and inspects HVAC systems on tractors.

+ Assists in compiling and maintaining all documents necessary to comply with the requirements of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.

+ Applies lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the position.

Role Specifics:

+ Schedule: TBD

+ Extensive standing and/or walking on concrete.

+ Temperature extremes (summer and winter conditions) working in both indoor and occasionally outdoor weather conditions as required to maintain trucks and associated equipment.

+ Will need to obtain brake inspection certification and Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

We Need You To Have:

+ High School Diploma or general equivalency degree

+ Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and pass physical abilities test to meet physical demands of job

+ Sufficient vision and hearing necessary to operate powered equipment safely

We'd Like You To Have:

+ Welding skills and experience

+ Proven success in a safety-sensitive position

+ 2 years truck maintenance experience or technical school graduate

+ Experience with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and government regulations governing the handling and disposal of hazardous waste.
