POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS The Maintenance Worker plays a crucial role in supporting hurricane response efforts in Florida by maintaining and repairing facilities, equipment, and infrastructure at designated sites. The Maintenance Worker will be responsible for performing various maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of essential services and support the needs of affected areas and response personnel Duties/Responsibilities: Perform general maintenance and repair tasks on facilities, including shelters, offices, and other assigned areas. Repair and maintain plumbing systems, including fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and repairing fixtures. Repair and maintain electrical systems, including replacing light bulbs, repairing outlets, and troubleshooting electrical issues. Repair and maintain HVAC systems, including cleaning filters, inspecting components, and troubleshooting malfunctions. Perform carpentry work, such as repairing doors, windows, walls, and other structural elements. Assemble and disassemble furniture, equipment, and temporary structures. Perform painting, patching, and other cosmetic repairs to maintain a clean and presentable environment. Maintain and repair equipment, including generators, pumps, and other machinery, ensuring they are in safe and working condition. Perform grounds maintenance tasks, such as clearing debris, removing fallen branches, and ensuring safe access to facilities. Respond to maintenance requests and address issues promptly and effectively. Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Perform other duties as assigned Required Education, Certifications, Licenses, and Experience: Must possess prior experience as a maintenance worker. Ability to work in various weather conditions, including potentially hazardous conditions associated with hurricane aftermath. Forklift Operator certification preferred. Be prepared to deploy to disaster-affected areas, often with short notice. Work Environment: Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise. Physical Requirements: Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds. Job Summary This team is part of our Environmental Legacy group that supervises daily closed landfill operations and landfill staff. This role is responsible for the environmental compliance work associated with our closed landfills and remedial sites. II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. Supervise site staff, contractors and/or consultants performing operations and maintenance work at assigned sites to ensure the quality and timeliness of the work. Conducts, provides oversite, and ensures smooth operations including performance of routine operation, monitoring and maintenance, and construction activities. Monitors permitting and compliance issues. Minimizes operational costs while maximizing productivity and maintaining safety and environmental compliance. Possess or efficiently gain a solid working knowledge of all site-specific system operation and maintenance requirements, including landfill gas management systems and controls, leachate management systems and controls, water treatment systems and controls, landfill cover systems, surface water management systems and controls, and environmental monitoring networks, as well as other ancillary equipment and site maintenance requirements. Complies with and ensures adherence to WM's Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations. Assists in the budget process, as required, and adhere to those budgets at assigned sites. Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property of the landfill through inspections and preventive maintenance programs with supervisors/employees. Prepare or update and submit required reports in a timely manner. III.
