Equity Federal Credit Union is formed in 1951 as a credit union with an initial investment of $10,000 in assets for members and employees of the Garden City Co-op.
President Eisenhower appoints GCC Board Chairman, Herb Clutter, to his newly established Federal Farm Credit Board, of which he served a four year term, but declined reappointment in 1957.
After a brief illness, R.J. Ackley dies on November 3, 1958, at the age of 85.
Nassau Community College (founded 1959), part of the State University of New York system, is in Garden City.
Garden City became an incorporated city in 1967 in accordance with the new Idaho law changing the legal status of incorporated villages to cities.
By mid 1976, the GCC signed on.
The Garden City Co-op shuts down the Hay Mill and sells the equipment in February and levels the building in 1979 out of safety concerns.
