Gardner Denver, a US based company, founded in 1859, was acquired by KKR and the company taken private.
• Robert W. Gardner, a Scottish immigrant engineer, began manufacturing governors to control steam engines in a one-room machine shop in Quincy during 1859.
1890: Gardner Company begins manufacturing mud pumps.

The demand for Gardner Company's mud pumps increased exponentially roughly a decade later when a major oil strike at the Spindletop Oil Field in 1901 triggered a surge in business throughout Texas.
In 1927, J. Willis Gardner orchestrated the merger of his father's company with its largest customer, Denver Rock Drill Manufacturing Company, a manufacturer of equipment for oil wells, mining, and construction.
The first investor to further build the foundation for the today's Medical Group was Lee B. Thomas who acquired 1948 a company from the Moe family that produced inlighting systems.
• In 1959, Gardner Denver celebrated its centennial as it operated 13 plants in four countries, with 47 sales offices worldwide.
1979: Cooper Industries acquires the company.
Centanni had joined Cooper Industries in 1980, as the director of its corporate planning and development group.
In 1987, Cooper Industries acquired the Sutorbilt and DuroFlow blower product lines, as well as a line of industrial compressors marketed under the name Joy.
To rid itself of the division, Cooper Industries formed a wholly owned subsidiary named Gardner Denver, Inc., which absorbed the assets and liabilities of the Gardner-Denver Industrial Machinery Division, effective on the last day of 1993.
With acquisition targets on the horizon, Centanni reorganized Gardner Denver in 1997.
Revenues reached $385 million, 30 percent more than the total recorded the previous year, and net income increased 33 percent from 1997's total, climbing to $36.8 million.
By the end of 1998, Gardner Denver had achieved its fourth consecutive year of double-digit sales growth, in large part derived from its acquisition campaign.
In 2001, Gardner Denver expanded abroad and domestically.

On July 8, 2019, Gardner Denver Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: GDI), a leading global provider of mission-critical flow control and compression equipment, announced that it has acquired Oina VV AB, for a net purchase price of approximately $10 million funded by cash on hand.
