Job Summary * This role is responsible for ensuring the quality control cell is actively engaged to meet daily customer demand and production schedule. * Performs receiving , in-process and/or final inspection of hardware. Conducts complex inspections as defined by quality/inspection plans or per directions of quality management/engineering. Uses a complete range of precision tools and instruments requiring advanced inspection skills and techniques. Ensures that all gauges/tools used are properly calibrated. * Identify accurate and efficient means of inspection techniques. * Works with general/minimal supervision. * Train and provide directions to the Quality Control team under the supervision of the Quality Control Manager. Responsibilities * The Quality Team Lead will inspect products by using a variety of inspection tools/devices, work instructions and computer to perform a series of inspections to correctly verify incoming parts, in-process and completed assemblies. * Verify supplier material certifications, including special processes, and ensure compliance with quality/PO requirements. * Creates supporting documentation (data books, certificates of conformance, etc…) * Support disposition of discrepant materials (MRB) in accordance with appropriate quality procedures and maintain low inventory of on-hold parts. * Verifies first articles from suppliers and internal departments. * Prepares and processes records and reports to document supplier/operations performance. * Qualify supplier components and/or systems for assuring conforming product. * Adheres to calibrations system of inspection, measuring and test equipment. * Applies Statistical Quality Control techniques as directed. * Assist with interpretation of drawings, specifications and quality requirements. * Properly process goods for outside processing, investigates and evaluates component parts returned and nonconforming product. * The Quality Team Lead provides effective training to the quality control cell and ensures safety and quality standards are always maintained. * Work with supervisor to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule are met. * Use basic problem-solving skills to ensure stable operation of the quality control cell. * Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to Quality management. * Work closely with support staff such as Purchasing/Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Supervisor, Materials/Warehouse to resolve issues. * Observe, maintain, coordinate and complete standard work. * Update production metrics and facilitate regular team communication. * Identify and support continuous improvement efforts with Quality management. * Sustain and drive lean manufacturing and 5S activities. * Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company's Quality System. Basic Qualifications * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, engineering drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, Material Standards, Quality Plans, Control Plans and Inspection Test Plans. * Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). * Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications. * Ability to analyze and solve problems. * Ability to work with others collaboratively. * Strong organizational skills. Preferred * Experience leading teams or projects strongly desired. * Quality Control experience. * Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience. Educational Requirements * High School diploma or equivalent * Five years + of related experience and a minimum of two leading teams. The Lead Project Engineer - New Product Development works with limited supervision, has strong leadership, communication, and technical skills, and can adapt and react quickly to internal and external customer demands. This position is for a technical project role in the Mechanical and Project Engineering group, supporting design , development, and implementation for new and existing designs of hydraulic actuation devices. **In this function you will:** + Provide technical design, analysis, and guidance for new product development and product improvements. Has the decision-making authority on behalf of Mechanical Engineering for system and component design and the responsibilities for guiding and directing applicable IPT technical decisions and accomplishment of objectives. + Work with one or more IPT to design, analyze, and implement product designs and design improvements in all phases of a product design lifecycle + Lead and participate in efforts to solve problems with product design, inspection, manufacturing, and test encountered by vendors, company operations personnel, and customers. + Plan, organize, control, and lead multiple simultaneous projects. Establish and oversee accomplishment of multiple project objectives. Creates, updates, and interprets project schedules and communicates changes and status to Engineering Leadership and IPT(s). Support targets and milestones for project budgets and schedules. + Participate in resolving program change of scope issues with Project Engineering and Program Management. + Serve as primary technical contact for multiple cross-functional teams and liaison between Engineering and internal and external customers. Interacts directly with internal and external customers through formal technical presentations and informal discussions. + Create, develop, and guide the creation of design standards, technical documents, including Engineering drawings (following ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.34 standards), test procedures, test reports, and design review material. Present product design and substantiating data and analysis, design findings and recommendations to customers and management. + Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to co-workers. Provide direction to other engineers on project teams. + Ensure standardization of design of products and adherence to engineering processes across multiple projects. Supports continuous improvement by offering input to standard processes and procedures. + Proactively collaborate with peers and managers to determine key goals, objectives, and corresponding metrics. Review and amend these actions as appropriate. Focus on the timely achievement of these goals and objectives. + Interpret engineering documents. Coordinate creation and update of engineering documents + Participate and lead studies and improvement for cost reduction and first-time yield. + Lead and participate in cross-functional Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations. Provide engineering input and technical expertise and sound engineering judgment for failure investigation and for customer-returned hardware. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution required. + Minimum five (5) years of Project Engineering including design experience utilizing 3D CAD software in the aerospace/hydraulic/vehicle industry OR a Master's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of two (2) years in Project Engineering experience in the aerospace/hydraulic/vehicle industry + Minimum two (2) years' experience designing hydraulic or pneumatic flow control, or actuation products + Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future. + This position requires access to export-controlled information. Active Duty military are exempt from the geographical requirement **Preferred Qualifications:** + Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited institution + Experience leading an integrated product team including design services, analysis etc. + Experience in the Aerospace Industry + Experience with Pro/Engineer, Enovia PLM, or similar 3D design and lifecycle management software tools + Experience with designing hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical products using Advanced manufacturing techniques and transitioning to a production environment + Ability to apply of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and perform tolerance stack-up analyses + Ability to perform basic structural and/or performance analysis + Working knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design for Manufacturability (dfM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) principles. **Position Skillset:** - Demonstrated leadership skills, experience with design processes, successful new product introduction experience, creative/innovative thinking. - Proven track record of driving change and ability to execute technology development plan - Demonstrated senior level project engineering and leadership experience - Ability to define and apply of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Model Based Definition principles and perform tolerance stack-up analyses - Ability to perform basic structural and/or performance analysis - Experience with working on and leading cross functional teams - Ability to communicate with customers' and negotiate within customer requirements and product capability at an advanced level - Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills \#LI-CD1 We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
