A Senior Director Analyst serves as an insights leader within Gartner's Business & Technology Insights practice, and has a credible voice within the global market. Senior Director Analyst produces pragmatic and provocative insights to propel Gartner clients toward their key business objectives. Analysts are a trusted source of advice for clients, engaging with them via virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner events to discuss complex client challenges and offer actionable solutions. As part of Gartner's Corporate Assurance Practice, you will join a dynamic team focused on advising General Counsel, legal operations leaders, and other legal and compliance leaders on leading and emerging technologies, vendors, market trends, and best practices related to contracts management and contracts life cycle management (CLM). This role will significantly expand coverage for the practice, and we are seeking an entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and ideas-driven individual to assist clients related to the topics below. What you will do: Create innovative, thought provoking, and highly leveraged must-have insights for General Counsel, legal operations leaders, and other legal and compliance leaders and provide best practices and advice on contracts management process design and management; roles and responsibilities across Legal, Compliance, Procurement, Supply Chain, etc.; how to assess and select CLM technology; top GenAI and Agentic AI use cases for contracts management; and how to integrate CLM investments into the larger legal technology stack. Remain ahead of the curve on trends and developments by understanding the broader technology and services market and ecosystem related to CLM, intake and triage, contract analytics, and other related markets, partnering with experts internally, and learning from our clients' best practices. Collaborate with peers and other experts across teams (e.g., Legal, Supply Chain, IT Procurement) to understand client challenges, current market dynamics, evaluate vendors, and establish shared and consistent thought leadership and positions on relevant issues. Develop in-depth analysis to identify the root cause of a client's challenges and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward. Research, analyze and predict market trends and shifts to provide clients and vendors with actionable insights. Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice related to contracts management and CLM technologies via virtual or face-to-face interactions. Provide sales support, serving as the voice of the market to help research teams create content and to drive engagement with clients to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business. Provide high-quality and timely peer review on peers' research content. Have credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner insights, methodology and strategy. Actively participate in innovation & ideation discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the insights community. Identify research process improvements or develop new processes that help the team and the practice provide excellent service delivery. Being a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team members Be client-centric, actively seeking to help clients engage regularly and often with Gartner insights and interactions. Create and deliver high-value presentation materials (either in-person or virtual) for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings. What you will need: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 12+ years of relevant field or industry experience Knowledge of and experience with contracts management processes, workflows, and CLM technologies within corporations (including tools, playbooks, process mapping, policies, and team structure). Knowledge of and experience with how contract processes and CLM technology investments align with broader legal department goals and workflows and coexist with other legal tech investments. In-depth knowledge of and experience with the vendor market, functionalities, and capabilities related to CLM and related tools and service providers, including both commercial (i.e., sell-side) and vendor/sourcing (i.e., buy-side) contract processes. Familiarity and experience with primary vendors in this space (e.g., Docusign, Ironclad, Agiloft, Malbek), as well as near-neighbor and emerging vendors. Working knowledge of how GenAI trends and developments are impacting the CLM market, capabilities, and ROI. Experience and interest in advising, presenting to, and writing for the most senior levels of an organization (e.g., General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Supply Chain Officer).Demonstrated executive presence; ability to immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders. Strong organizational skills: ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables. Demonstrated excellence in research and writing ability. Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions.
