Reporting to the Vice President, Strategic Account, the GIS Developer is responsible for processing data collected by field crews, communication with project teams, reporting progress to the Project Manager, and mentoring junior GIS analysts. The GIS Developer at Audubon Field Solutions is a pivotal role that builds the foundation to our deliverables. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Review and process the files and data from field crews on a daily basis. Work close with the field personnel to provide feedback and concerns on field data and documentation. Mentor junior GIS analysts. Designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise GIS custom applications and data integration solutions. Customizing and developing GIS viewers for field services and Pipeline engineering, as well as the development of management of Change (MOC) tools and automation of their usage. Updating and maintaining spatial databases with a focus on SQL queries and maintenance queries. Developing scripts and workflows to automate repetitive tasks within the GIS environment, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual effort. Customizing GIS software and tools to align with the company's unique requirements, integrating additional functionalities and features as necessary. Retrieving, processing, cleaning, and analyzing data from various sources, including web services (WMS/WFS). Creating spatial analysis and algorithms to manage, analyze, and visualize data in diverse formats. Integrating various data sources into the GIS system, including survey data, spatial data, engineering data, and other relevant datasets, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compatibility across systems. Offering technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users experiencing issues with GIS applications to ensure smooth system operation. Administering the GIS infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of GIS software, databases, and servers. Managing user accounts, permissions, and access levels within the GIS system to safeguard sensitive data. Overseeing the organization, storage, and backup of spatial data within the SQL GIS environment, implementing data management best practices to maintain integrity and availability. Managing software licenses and subscriptions to ensure compliance with licensing agreements and optimize resource utilization. EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in equivalent field or related work experience. Field experience preferred. Experience with Trimble GPS Equipment, Total Station, Level, Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD 5+ years related experience. Demonstrated software programming and debugging skills with 5-7 years of experience in developing geospatial applications using multiple languages (e.g. C#, JavaScript/CSS/HTML5, Python, JSON/XML). Working knowledge of relational database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Esri Enterprise Geodatabase management and maintenance. Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro suite of products. Excellent written, analytical, and verbal communication skills. Ability to understand and interpret business applications, developing applications and products to meet those requirements. Proficiency in automating code release handoffs from development to operations (DevOps). Capability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal guidance and supervision.
