    As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, this Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing mechanical designs in support of various Buildings Design Business Line projects. Specifically, this responsibility will include a variety of projects related to leading the planning, design, and commissioning of: Building HVAC system(s) Building plumbing system(s) Building fire protection system(s) Whole building energy modeling Building sustainability requirements reporting In addition, this role will include coordination with other support disciplines, and coordination with regional offices. Assisting project managers in management of projects. Following quality assurance and quality control plans. Periodic travel to project sites will be required. Abilities and attributes needed for this position: Knowledge of mechanical engineering and sustainability principles Mentor and train technical staff. Interfacing with clients on project design, delivery, and construction. Managing project budget and schedule compliance. Overseeing the mechanical design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle from the conceptual phase, design phase, and construction phase. Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawings Utilize Microsoft Excel based calculation tools for design calculations Manage multiple assignments concurrently Be responsible for time management and product quality Follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans Be responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as overall needs of the team. Requirements Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering with a mechanical focus from an ABET accredited university or college.     Thompson Engineering is looking for a qualified Project Geotechnical Engineer. Project-Level Geotechnical Engineer The Project-Level Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for performing geotechnical engineering analyses and managing projects of varying scope and scale under the guidance of a Senior or Principal Engineer. This role supports transportation, heavy industrial, and infrastructure projects. Key duties include proposal preparation, fieldwork, engineering calculations, coordination of field and laboratory tasks, client interaction, and general civil engineering support. Key Responsibilities Technical & Field Duties Perform and/or lead field drilling services and associated engineering analysis and calculations Prepare geotechnical recommendations, designs, plans, and specifications Conduct observation and inspection services Write, prepare, and review related technical reports Perform field work including: Logging borings Supporting cone penetration testing (CPT) operations Performing geotechnical field testing Working alongside drill rigs and drilling crews, and/or on active construction sites related to Construction Materials Testing (CMT) services Project Management & Coordination Review construction drawings for compliance with plans and specifications Prepare proposals and cost estimates Track and evaluate project budgets and progress; recommend changes as needed Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports Design & Engineering Research and resolve design and construction problems Assist with the initial design and investigative approach for major project phases Apply sound engineering principles and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering tasks involving both conventional and complex design requirements Leadership & Oversight Provide technical review and direction for complex investigations Supervise analysis and ensure findings and recommendations are clearly formulated in client reports Review and approve engineering documents and technical deliverables Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Master's degree preferred) from an ABET/EAC-accredited program 0-5 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering Ability to lift 50 lbs Willingness and ability to travel Thompson Engineering was formed in 1953 to provide quality assurance for construction projects related to industrial, infrastructure, and community development.
