GAST, was founded in 1961 by Peter Solomon Gast, which had it's roots in the chemical industry.

In the early 1980's GAST patented the first dam lining which at the time relied on a technology which GAST had perfected, which made the “plasticisation“ of soil possible for the first time in the world.
In 1983 the second eldest son of Peter Solomon Gast namely Doctor Kevin Gast became CEO of GAST, who was largely responsible for expanding GAST to a multifaceted operating entity encompassing various fields from Waterproofing, Painting, Geosynthetics, Construction, Civil & Consulting.
In 1988 GAST started a large renovation project.
In 1998, Gast was acquired by IDEX Corporation and is part of the IDEX Health Science Technologies segment.
IDEX proudly calls it’s 40 diverse businesses and 7,000 employees around the world part of it’s growing family.In 2006, Gast acquired JUN-AIR, the leading provider of quiet compressors for a variety of applications.
