The Manager, Financial Reporting will report to the Director, Financial Reporting and manage certain aspects of the financial reporting team. This role will be involved in managing the process for external reporting deliverables, including SEC matters, investor relations support, statutory audit and reporting requirements, regulatory reporting, internal reporting, and SOX compliance. In addition, this role will assist in the management responsibilities related to the joint venture created in the new railcar acquisition, including required external and internal reporting requirements, non-controlling interest and consolidation entries, as well as reporting required by the joint venture partner for the separately managed long-term lease portfolio. Finally, the manager, financial reporting will assist in the management of the consolidation and reporting of our Rail International segment, including coordination with the foreign accounting teams, as well as the formal accounting and close activities for the Rail International entities managed in Chicago. The Manager, Financial Reporting will manage two direct reports to achieve goals and responsibilities of the financial reporting group and will support the Director, Financial Reporting in various research and reporting guidance requirements. Responsibilities * Manage the preparation and filing of all required periodic reports for GATX in accordance with SEC rules and regulations (Form 10-Ks and Form 10-Qs). Plan and coordinate the compilation, analysis and review of all applicable financial and disclosure information, including iXBRL. Collaborate with independent auditors for timely and efficient completion of the audit. Assist in drafting new and revised disclosures for periodic reports. Additionally, manage the preparation and filing of other SEC reports (Form 8-K's, Form 11-K's) as required; collaborate with Legal Dept.as necessary. Includes SOX requirements * Manage the external and internal reporting requirements of the newly-formed joint venture, including the audited annual financial statements and required quarterly financial statements. Oversee any required internal accounting and consolidation of the joint venture into the GATX consolidated financial statements, including consideration of non-controlling interest adjustments. Assist in the review of cash flow impacting the calculation of GATX's ownership of the joint venture. In addition, manage the reporting requirements required by the joint venture partner for the managed long-term lease portfolio. Address ad hoc requests as needed. * Lead the monthly/quarterly accounting close process for the Rail International Segment, including: * Partner with the accounting departments at our foreign locations to form a collaborative, communicative relationship * Oversight of the communication between the Chicago accounting team and the accounting departments at our foreign locations to ensure a full understanding of the foreign operations and their implications on our consolidated accounting activities, as well as to review the impacts of intercompany transactions. * Preparation and review of monthly close activities, including journal entries, Fx translation, and other close process steps for the Rail International segment entities managed at Corporate to ensure monthly activities are recorded in accordance with GATX accounting policies * Prepare and review the Rail International segment monthly and quarterly reporting package, including income statement and balance sheet variance analysis, key performance metrics, and statement of cash flows. * Review of the Rail International segment schedules used in preparation of our required financial statements and disclosures for the 10-K, 10-Q, and other reporting needs. * Manage the preparation of audited financial statements for other GATX reporting entities in accordance with statutory guidelines (including foreign subsidiaries) and the hourly and salary pension / 401(k) plans. Collaborate with independent auditors for timely and efficient completion of applicable audits. Also, manage the preparation and filing of all government reports and surveys, as applicable. * Research and analysis of new SEC reporting standards and guidance. Coordinate with accounting and technical accounting departments to research and implement new accounting standards and the related reporting and disclosure requirements. * Manage the preparation of monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements for GATX and other consolidated information and reporting. Collaborate with GATX's accounting groups, including North America, Europe and Asia, as well as Affiliates as required to integrate all financial results into GATX's consolidated financial statements and address all related reporting requirements. * Manage the preparation of all consolidated management reports (Board Report, Flash); collaborate with Investor Relations on preparation of GATX's Quarterly Earnings Releases and other investor information and presentations, including data reported on GATX's web site. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance. MBA or Masters in Accounting preferred. * CPA Required. * 5+ years of relevant reporting and accounting related business experience, including Big 4 public accounting. Multinational public company, financial services, or leasing company experience a plus. * Knowledge and experience researching, interpreting, and applying SEC reporting and U.S. GAAP guidance required. * Management experience in a relevant role. * SOX and controls experience. * Understanding of foreign currency translation issues and international cash flow and project analysis. * Financial systems (ledger, consolidation, and reporting tools). SAP, BPC, and Workiva a plus. * General systems skills (Excel, Word, Power-point). Experience in the rail industry is preferred. This individual should have experience analyzing tax expense and accounting for large corporations. The ability to negotiate effectively is essential. General experience Microsoft Office, SAP, PTMS, or similar products is also required. Other Travel will be required including travel for education. Travel should not exceed 20% This is a hybrid position which will require the employee to work in the office at least 3 days a week throughout the year. The employee may work remotely the balance of the time, apart from quarter and year-end close, when work is fully in-office. Posting Duration This posting will remain open for 5 days. As of the post date, the salary range for this position is: Min USD $59,600.00/Yr. Max USD $70,400.00/Yr. This role may be eligible to participate in the Company's short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire. This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs.
