Gavilan's student services are comprehensive and include: * Career counseling * Disability services * Puente * Tutoring * Writing assistance Gavilan also participates in the TRIO program, which gives disadvantaged students the extra support they need to get an education. Additional services include comprehensive financial aid programs. Gavilan offers tuition waivers to qualifying, low-income students and awards loans and grants to students who qualify. Gavilan offers numerous scholarships, as well. Criteria for scholarships include academic performance, intended major or cultural background. Admission is open to anyone with a high school diploma or GED. New students must submit transcripts or GED scores and take a placement exam.
