Security Systems Engineer

The Security Systems Engineer is a key member of Scoular's Security Risk Management team and is responsible for hands-on execution of core cybersecurity operations. This role focuses on SIEM management, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, incident response, email monitoring, and Tier 1 security support across Scoular's enterprise environment. The analyst assists with onboarding log sources, tuning alerts, monitoring security events, performing initial investigations, supporting remediation activities, and other project work.
The Security Systems Analyst partners closely with Infrastructure and IT Operations teams to ensure secure operation of systems across on-premise and cloud environments. The role reports to the Lead Security Engineer and requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, excellent documentation habits, and the ability to collaborate effectively while continuously learning.
This position can be located in Scoular's Omaha, NE or Overland Park, KS offices.
Job Functions
Security Operations & Monitoring
* Monitor SIEM dashboards and alerts to detect suspicious activity and respond to incidents following established playbooks.
* Perform Tier 1-level incident triage and escalate to senior team members as needed.
* Assist with onboarding log sources, validating data quality, and tuning SIEM alerts and dashboards.
* Support endpoint protection technologies (EDR/XDR) including Defender and CrowdStrike.
* Monitor and manage Microsoft email quarantine.
Vulnerability Management
* Perform routine vulnerability scans, validate results, track remediation progress, and coordinate with system owners.

Cleanliness and housekeeping
Responding to radio calls from other departments (production, food safety, safety, etc) for maintenance related actions
Communicating with other departments and other maintenance shifts to ensure proper pass down of maintenance related issues to the next shift
Documenting daily work assigned on paper and also in the maintenance management system (SAP)
Troubleshoot and repair complex problems on all production equipment
Utilize parts in inventory to repair equipment and follow procedures in documenting what is issued out
Identify problems and make suggestions to improve operational processes
Perform modifications to improve equipment performance
Contact equipment vendors to assist in troubleshooting issues, researching parts needed, and requesting quotes for parts
Required Qualifications
Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
Must be 18 years or older
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Ability and willingness to train operators and mechanics
Ability to work alone without supervision
Perform advanced preventative maintenance (PM's) on plant equipment
Troubleshoot motors and variable frequency drives
Troubleshoot PLC's using schematics and ladder logic
Two years of experience in a maintenance related field
Preferred Qualifications
Previous production experience
Meat processing experience
Ability to perform basic welding
Work history in the past 12 months

**A Typical Work Day May Include:**
- Operating equipment and technology tools throughout the facility which may include mixers, batching, mills, grinders, packing, weighing, palletizers, etc.
- Collecting product samples and supervising tank levels, utilizing computer systems to input and record data as necessary
- Manufacturing products to ensure that they meet specifications
- Interacting regularly with peers and management to pursue continuous improvement of facility operations and promote a teamwork focused environment
- Operating mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders, etc.
- Understanding and adhering to all safety policies and procedures
- Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
- Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**
**What You Will Need:**
- Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Be 18 years or older
- Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
- Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work overtime including holidays, nights, weekends, or different shifts with advance notice

+ Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal & written)
